Youtube was created in February 2005 as a way of sharing videos worldwide. Millions of people have posted a video on Youtube, and millions more have watched videos ranging from DIY projects to music videos. I use Youtube daily whether it be to listen to music or for help school work. I've often times stumbled upon videos that I can't help share with my friends, something that I've been doing for years now. At a recent lunch discussion, my friends and I discussed several videos from our childhood that we all have seen despite being from different parts of New England. Below I give you a list of some of the videos from your youth that you may have forgotten about.
1) Muffins (Created by LiamKyleSullivan, 2007)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tcR19y7GPM
Poor Donny wanted muffins for breakfast, little did he know it would send the founder of Cunningham Muffins into a baked goods bananza. In the beginning it seems like a wonderful establishment offering some of the classic flavors (blueberry, pumpkin, and choco choco chip). However, the menu takes a turn for the worse and offers flavors such as fish, bullfrog and elephant (oh my) are featured. I hope Cunningham Muffins was shut down soon after the making of the video, because if Chipotle has to close it's doors for a day after the E.coli outbreaks Cunningham should be burned to the ground after the first sale of the "blood muffin".
2) Charlie the Unicorn (Created by Filmcow, 2008)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsGYh8AacgY
You really have to feel for Charlie here. Just a unicorn catching some z's in a peaceful field, when his "friends" wake him up by bouncing on him. Like what a horrible way to be awoken from your slumber. So his friends drag him passed a weird dinosaur and across some rickety bridge to the so called "Candy Mountain". Not only does Charlie get no candy, but his friends also ditch him and he gets his kidney stolen. I'm not sure what the price for a unicorn kidney is on the black market, but my guess is it's worth a lot of candy canes.
3) Bigmac Drive Thru Rap (Created by Hookahboy, 2006)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhlUVyDBusg
The original fast food restaurant rap, often imitated never duplicated. Just the other day I saw a video of a guy rapping his order inside a McDonalds, but it had nothing on the original Big Mac rap. The best part about this video is how the first worker appreciated the lyrical genius he was hearing, so he called his crew over. The second worker just straight disrespected all the hard work "Hookahboy" put in, two things you can't do to a man: 1) tell him to ask for directions, 2) interrupt him during his rap verse.
4) Marcel the Shell With Shoes On (Created by Dean Fleilscher-Camp, 2010)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF9-sEbqDvU
I'm so happy this video was released, often time we hear about the struggles animals face such as global warming and pollution, but we finally learned of the struggles that a shell has to deal with on a daily basis. Think about it, no soda, not being able to lift anything, not being able to have a dog; man being a shell is brutal. But things are looking up for Marcel, she has got herself a fresh pair of kicks.
5) Potter Puppet Pals (Created by Neil Cicierega, 2007)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx1XIm6q4r4
Just a catchy video from the opening theme to Voldemort jamming in the end. Who would have thought a ticking time bomb could provide a great beat. Harry Potter tried a little too hard to steal the show, everyone had an even amount of lines, but then Harry went rogue. Thankfully, Dumbledore was able to put him in his place.
6) Salad Fingers (Created by David Firth, 2007)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3iOROuTuMA
Nightmares, that is what Salad Fingers led to. Why does this guy want rusty spoons? Just a strange, strange dude asking others for spoons. The feeling of rust is a disgusting feeling, rust causes tetanus, and one of my biggest fears is tetanus, I don't really know what it is but it requires you to get a shot, and needles aren't on my to do list.
7) The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny (Created by AlbinoBlackSheep, 2008)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WgT9gy4zQA
I'll give the song an A, it's very catchy, but the plot, that's a D. Is Chuck Norris not the most overrated person on this planet. The man hasn't done anything in a millennium, and yet everyone acts like he is the baddest dude out there. Connor McGregor would knock Chuck Norris out in 25 seconds. The only thing saving the plot is Mr. Rodgers, he doesn't get enough credit for his work. He was on PBS for decades educating children. I may have seen his show 3 times after Dragon Tales, but from what I saw I can say he was a friendly man.
8) Relaxing Car Ride (Created by Habubba315, 2007)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30KyQDmUvo0
If you haven't seen this one and then read what I have to say... HA GOTHEEM, for real I'm sorry I did that to you, but come on. The original 0-100 one minute you're watching a car drive peacefully down a country road and then, WHAMO, creepy demon lady screaming in your ear drums. This was the go to video to scare your friends at a sleepover late at night.
