I'm one of those people who considers country music an all year genre of music. None of that "I only listen to country in the summer," stuff. If you are one of those people though, no hard feelings I still respect you but I mean c'mon you can't just like a genre of music for a season. Alright for those of you who like to argue yes Christmas music does count, you got me. However, to me, country music always puts me in a good mood and I think that has a lot to do with the fact that country music tells a story. There is always a purpose for each song and a lot of the time the words are exactly how you feel, but you don't know how to say.
And what is a good country song without a ballad to a girl? Probably not a country song. Think about it though! Nine times out of 10 the subject of a country song is love and what's more attractive than a man confessing his love to a woman with an acoustic guitar? Nothing really comes to mind... However, with these perfectly crafted love ballads comes the aftermath: the expectation bar of relationships is raised exponentially. Don't believe me? Well here's 11 times country music took relationships to a whole new level:
1. Die A Happy Man
If there is one thing I have ever wanted to hear a guy tell me...it would be every single lyric to this song. I am absolutely not surprised that when this song came out it was in the top 10 list within a week, it's a beautiful song... that, undeniably, raises the bar for every single man out there. If there is one thing every woman loves to hear it's that we're the only girl for you and Thomas Rhett does that and more with this latest hit.
2. Show You Off
Yeah, I'm just gonna go right out there and say it, when I heard this song it instantly became my go to song every time I plugged my phone into the aux chord in my car. Every single time. I fell in love with it, as I'm sure every other girl did too. Well I mean you can't blame us, what girl wouldn't want her significant other to be incredibly proud to show us off and introduce as his? If you find one lemme know, but the bar just keeps on raising.
3. The Good Stuff
An oldie, but definitely one of good one. Listen to the lyrics though, it's true. There are so many things in life that make it good and sharing your life with someone special is one of the best. Everyone, man or woman, wants to be able to say that when all is said and done they know what it is like to deeply love someone and be deeply loved in return.
4. Love Like Crazy
Who isn't a sucker for a solid true love story? Well I for sure know I am and Lee Brice absolutely nails it with this song about a couple who fell in love at 17 and have been together for 58 years, "that's crazy." Everyone tends to wonder what the keys to a successful relationship are and Brice shares with us that they are, "be her best friend, tell the truth, don't overuse 'I love you', go to work, do your best, don't outsmart your common sense, never let your praying knees get lazy, and love like crazy." If I do say so myself, I think he spelled out the essentials for a lifelong love (aka raisin' the bar).
5. Loving You Easy
Zac Brown Band raised the bar even more with this one, because they brought to the forefront that loving someone shouldn't be a burden. It should be easy. More importantly though the song states all the things that women in particular do not love about themselves, but it's those particular things that makes it easy for him to fall in love with her.
6) God Gave Me You
Whether you're religious or not a little affirmation, such as a man is incredibly blessed to have you in his life, is always very special to hear. Life throws a lot of things at us and to know that through thick and thin someone is by your side can be incredibly comforting and quite frankly one of the biggest blessings someone can have. Way to go Blake, we're #blessed you raised that bar even a tinny bit more!
7. Crash My Party
To have a guy care enough about you to drop everything they're doing and come to you, yeah don't ever let that man go. Enough said. Every girl should be looking for a guy who would allow her to, "crash his party," if she really needed him. If one deserves to have someone to count on.
8. Then
Out of all these songs though, this one is by far the one that tops them all. It is my all-time favorite country love song and it is the epitome of what I hope my future husband feels about me. It should be the epitome of what every woman should hope to find with their true love. Brad Paisley, in my opinion, writes some of the best love story songs I have ever heard, mostly because you can hear the truth in every word he sings and feel the amount of love for his wife through the entire song.
If every man listened to more country music and took the advice from these fine fellas then maybe the divorce rate would go down! Kidding, but hey there's no shame in expressing your feelings for someone special. So basically what I'm getting at is boys go tell your girl she's beautiful and that you love her and also that you might learn how to play an acoustic guitar...alright so maybe not the last one, but definitely go tell her the first two.
