Let's be real.

If you have ever seen The Office, you definitely found yourself relating to Michael Scott time after time. As I watched the series throughout my first semester of college, I noticed many things that he said were often identical to comments that I had stated myself while at school, or things that I heard my friends say. Here are some quotes from Michael Scott that I couldn't help but relate to, laugh at, and associate myself with.

1. "I am dead inside."

Whether it's waking up for class after going out the night before, or realizing that your schoolwork is taking over your life, I can guarantee you that college students often feel this way.

2. "No God, please, no."

You checked your final grade. You slept through your 8 am alarm. You have a pop quiz. You weighed yourself. You realized your meal plan balance is at $0.22. I could go on forever.

3. "That's what she said."

Sadly, the majority of college students are more immature than not. Many of us can't help but laugh at someone that says something that could be interpreted to be inappropriate.

4." When I discovered YouTube, I didn't work for five days."

Procrastination is real. Once you open your phone or a new tab on your computer, you can't help but get carried away from your responsibilities and obligations. While we all look for ways to procrastinate, avoiding what we must face ultimately ends up hurting us in the end.

5. "It's never too early for ice cream."

If Michael Scott said it, it must be true. We all know of the 2 am runs for ice cream that we go on while we're pulling an all-nighter, or the ice cream that you treat yourself to at 11 am right after you finish your midterm.

6. "I don't want to work. I just want to bang on this mug all day."

Procrastination is not the only way college students avoid their work. Sometimes, they just completely disregard it on purpose and pretend that it doesn't exist. We've all had days where we don't have the desire nor motivation to study anymore, so we curl up in bed with Family Guy and a hot chocolate instead.

7. "Why don't you explain this to me like I'm five?"

As embarrassing or as sad as it may be, sometimes we just need something to be explained to us in the simplest terms possible. We sometimes teach ourselves history as if it is a story, or learn math by teaching ourselves tricks to remember formulas.

8. "There is no greater feeling than when two people who are perfect for each other overcome all obstacles and find true love."

Most importantly, Michael Scott never gave up on love. He never gave up on the people he had hope for and cared about. He never gave up on the woman he fell in love with. Most importantly, he never gave up on himself. That to me, is the definition of true love. I can't help but thank Michael Scott for all that he taught me and continues to teach me every time I watch The Office.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
