1. Being ‘extra’ was never a ground rule.
You don’t have the time (or let’s be real, the money) to go out and buy them their favorite food or Starbucks drink every time they’re sad. You won’t get in some ridiculous pose just to get the lighting perfect for their picture. You don’t focus on having to post every single time you hang out.
2. Personal space, though a foreign concept to others, is mandatory for you.
You really don’t understand those best friends that hang out every single day. Do they do their homework? Do they eat? Do they sleep? Because honestly, you wouldn’t be able to do any of that if your best friend were that high maintenance.
3. Oversharing isn’t necessary.
They don’t need to know the details about the last time you went to the bathroom. They don’t need to see pics of that pimple that went south on your thigh. And they sure as hell don’t want to smell your armpits/feet/etc. to see if you stink.
4. When you hang out, it’s always super lowkey.
You don’t need to drive hours away or fly to a different country to have fun. Most of your plans include baking, watching movies until you fall asleep, sharing memes, or getting coffee.
5. If they don’t text you for a day, it’s not the end of the world.
You can understand that they have a life outside your friendship and Snapchat. You both don’t see constant messaging as a priority (unless you have some real tea), and you don’t flip out if they don’t respond within five minutes of a message.
6. You have boundaries.
You wouldn’t dare go into their house without them inviting you, or going when they’re not there, and you truly don’t understand why others would do that.
7. You don’t have massive fights and get petty with one another.
Sure, the occasional disagreement might pop up, but it’s nothing worth crying, yelling, or talking behind their back about. There’s really nothing you two can’t work out.
8. Even though your friendship is different than others’, you love each other just the same.
You know that in the end, you are always there for each other.
