Growing up in the '90s was the best thing since sliced bread. The outside world was the only playground, take me back.
1. You would spend every hour of the day outside.
While there was still day light, you were outside until the moon and stars were out. From building forts, to riding your bike, to playing tag and digging for worms, you were always having fun.
2. Shoes did not exist; running around in your bare feet was all you knew.
You ran everywhere without shoes, and eventually you stepped on the black top and your feet went up in flames. You most likely stepped on some hard rocks and got yourself a few splinters here and there. Your feet became tough as Rocky.
3. Roasting marshmallows was an adventure.
You had to go and find all of the long sticks in your yard to roast your marshmallows on. Mom and dad supplied the chocolate and graham crackers for your s'mores.
4. The sprinkler was your best friend.
Sprinkler's were the best thing in the world, an upgrade from getting sprayed by the hose. You got to jump through it and over it and have contests on who could jump the highest over it. Your feet would catch themselves and you'd fall most time right onto the grass hard.
5. Running to your friend's house to ask to play.
There were no such thing as cell phones, or social media accounts. You ran over to your friends house bright and early to ask if they wanted to play, and most likely the answer was always yes and your parents would not see you until dinner.
6. Ghost in the graveyard was the game of our life.
Once the sun went down, you were separated by two teams and if you got caught you were out! This game got out your last bit of energy out left from the day.
7. Catching lightning bugs.
You watched as the sun went down to grab every lighting bug you could see floating around your yard. Jars were full of them and you know you asked your parents if you could keep them in there forever.
8. Lemonade stands.
Nothing taught us kids the value of 25 cents like a lemonade stand did. We would sit outside for ours on end selling our lemonade so we could go get our ice cream treats later.
Wish it could still be the same for kids today!
