You live and you learn

Always growing up you would hear "High school goes by so fast" or "High School are the best years of your life". Now that I've graduated and grown up (a little) I realize there was so much I had to learn and things I'm learning now.

1. Relationships aren't forever

You're way too young to even know what "love" is. Love is patient and kind, it is never jealous, controlling or superficial.

2. Your mom will become your best friend

I know, your hormones are raging, and you think your "friends" are your true friends. There is no truer friend than your mom.

3. Your friends aren't your real friends

Right now your friend group probably consists of nine or more. I hate to say it, but you'll probably never talk to them again.

4. Love yourself first

There's no need to wear make-up every day or wear the newest "trend." Self-acceptance is the only acceptance you need.

5. Family first

I know hanging out with your friends sounds so much better, but movie night with your mom or running errands with your grandma is precious time. You will miss these chances when you're in college.

6. You're young

I know you're in a rush to grow up because you can't wait to have "Freedom". You just have to relax and take things slow. Your time for everything will come. You need to take the time to find who are and who you aren't.

7. Responsibility accompanies freedom

I know you think when you grow up everything will be easier. I hate to say it but it actually becomes a lot harder. College, scholarships and staying healthy can all take a toll on you. After high school, you have to learn how to grow up, and how to do it the right way.

8. High School isn't forever

High School may seem like it's never ending, but there will be a time when you walk across that stage. Once you walk across that stage, you realize whatever path you decide to take will embark on starting a whole new life. It won't matter who you dated, what you wore to school, how many parties you attended or what you drove. It will only matter from now on what you know.

9. Talk is cheap, so let them talk

I know it's hard ignoring what people say about you, so just stop listening. Be yourself and dance like no one's watching.

10. Don't feel pressure about where to go for college

Senior year can be stressful. If it's not between deadline dates or acceptance letters, it can chaotic. There's one thing I can promise: wherever you go doesn't define you.

11. You're in the process of making memories

Cherish every laugh, tear and hug you get. You soon will remember these times and feel like they were so long ago.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
