Make the rest of summer count.

For college students, summer is more than halfway over at this point. There's only a few more weeks until the semester begins. It's easy to be discouraged by the fact that summer has practically flown by, but there are still a few things you can do to make this summer even more memorable.

1.Take a trip to the beach

If you live close enough, you can take a day trip to the beach. You'll save on paying for a hotel and your day there will be just the perfect dose of vitamin sea that you'll need to finish your summer on a bright note!

2. Read a good book.

There's still plenty of time to read a good book or two. Pick up one you haven't had time to read yet, ask your friends via social media for suggestions or venture into a used bookstore and spend time there finding a good book.

3. Make a new friend.

Or reconnect with an old one or deepen a relationship with an acquaintance. It may seem weird to have this on the list, but I love making new friends and I can make them anywhere. Some places to make friends include the gym, the grocery store, a restaurant, a coffee shop or a bookstore.

4. Find a hobby.

If you have a bit of extra cash this summer, you should consider spending it on finding a hobby that you may like. Maybe you can head to a craft store, such as Michael's, and find something to take up. Whether it's knitting or scrapbooking, Michael's will be your go-to store for all of your crafting needs. Other hobbies include cooking, writing, baking, or gardening.

5. Volunteer.

It's always great to give back to your community. Whether you're in your college town for the summer or back at home, find some way to give back to the community. You can also consider starting the volunteer process for an organization you'd like to be involved with during the semester.

6. Learn something new.

One thing I have learned to love lately is watching documentaries on Netflix. It's always a great idea to then do your own research after watching one. Another way to learn something new is by listening to podcasts or taking a trip to the local library and learning about everything from the history of the United States to the geography of the world.

7. Make time for exercise in your life.

It's not too late to join a gym and start setting aside time for exercise in your life. Especially with the start of the school year quickly approaching, it's a good idea to get into the habit of establishing a routine and making sure that your body is receiving the right nutrients to support a healthy lifestyle along with at least 60 minutes of activity a day.

8. Start a bucket list.

It may be too late to start a "summer" bucket list, but start one out for the next semester/school year. This is especially a great idea if you're a senior or a freshman in college.

There is still so much time to accomplish everything on this list and so much more. Make the most of the rest of your summer. Don't sulk in the fact that it's almost over, take the time to appreciate the time off that you have left and look forward to the next school year ahead.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
