Things My Boyfriend Has Taught Me
Julia Maggiacomo

We all know that us girls have a tendency to think we know everything. However sometimes we need to accept the fact that we probably don't. Growing up you learn a lot of life lessons from your family, friends, and sometimes your boyfriend. He claims that he knows everything, and although we don't admit it to them, they've taught us some valuable things that we will carry with us forever.

1. Have patience.

With the stress of college, classes, and everything else us college students are suppose to be doing, we forget that the world is not always going full speed. Not everything you do is going to have immediate results. My boyfriend is the master at telling me to relax. He constantly reminds me to take a deep breathe and have patience.

2. Never doubt yourself.

In such a competitive world, it's so easy to not have a little faith in yourself. My boyfriend gets mad at me when I say "I can't do that." He turns around and reassures me that I can do it and I will with him right by my side.

3.There's always tomorrow.

When you get that exam back that you think you did really well on and I turns out you didn't, all you want to do is break down. It's the worst feeling in the world. When I come home and feel like I'm ready to give up, my boyfriend lets me know that it was just one bad day and tomorrow only has the potential to be better.

4. Motivation is everything.

It gets exhausting trying to keep up with everything, and even getting out of bed seems like a big task. My boyfriends motivation constantly is driving me to be better. He has such a drive to be successful, and better himself it makes me want to do the same.

5. Be grateful for the little things.

I always see all these extravagant relationship goals on social media, and I think that our society gets a little too wrapped up in that image. Being with my boyfriend I have learned to value our time together, those good morning texts, and Dunkin's coffee deliveries. They may seem like small things, but to me they mean the world.

6. You should not only be a couple, but you should be best friends.

It's nice to find someone that you click with, but it's even better when they become your best friend. I know it sounds cliché, but it really is the best thing in the world to have a boyfriend who is your best friend. He becomes your go to person to talk about the latest drama with, he makes you laugh endlessly, and you know that he'll never judge you no matter what.

7. Enjoy every moment.

Whether it's belting country songs in the car, or 2 a.m. drives to McDonalds, he's taught me that those moments are the ones that count the most. When you're thinking back on your relationship, the little moments are the ones that stand out the most.

8. Always smile.

We always seem to get so caught up in the negatives in life, and don't focus on the positives. My boyfriend has taught me that even if it is the worst day ever, it's still no excuse to not wear a smile on your face.

The list could go on and on, but I'm grateful to have learned these lessons from my boyfriend. Thank you for teaching me that there is more to life and to enjoy all that it has to bring. Weather it's the ups or the down, every day is another day closer to success. Shoutout to all the boyfriends out there constantly motivating their girlfriends to be a better person, and backing them up on whatever they want to do. Even if it does sound a little crazy. Thank you for everything you do. Don't think that all the things you do go unrecognized.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
