Growing up in South Florida was definitely a cool experience. While I miss the winds and scenery of California, South Florida is nice too. There is always a new place to visit here and a new city to see. There are new restaurants springing up all the time and hundreds of festivals and art galleries to choose from. Here are some of the top things to see in Miami.

1. Wynwood

Wynwood is a really cool place to see for graffiti and street art. Many street artists have come here looking for a place to showcase their work for all to see.

2. Coconut Grove

Here, you can find great restaurants and brunch places, including GreenStreet Cafe. For a quiet morning or a lively night, you can find it all at the grove.

3. Lincoln Road

This is perhaps what Miami is known for. Anyone visiting will probably make it to South Beach and Lincoln Road. There are great shops all around and restaurants of all sorts. Stop by Sugar Factory for some sweet drinks and treats. You can also head to Ladurée for some delicious macaroons and feel like you're in Paris.

4. Miami Beach

Walk down Ocean Drive and enjoy the beautiful sights and great weather. If you love the water, take a swim or simply tan. Florida weather is usually pretty sunny so everyday is a beach day.

5. Museum Park

You can visit the Perez Art Museum and then take a visit to the new Frost Science center. This is a beautiful place to bring friends or family who enjoy art and the outside of the museum is gorgeous as well.

6. Go to Versailles

Go to Versailles for the best authentic Cuban food. Located right on Calle Ocho, Versailles is in the heart of Little Havana and you can visit Domino Park as well.

7. Coral Reefs

Charter a boat and visit the coral reefs around Miami or go fishing. Boating and jet skiing are a great pass time in the beaches here. There are many islands and cute little restaurants to check out if you have the chance.

8. Vizcaya Palace

Head over to the Vizcaya Palace for some artsy Instagram pictures and pretend to be royal for a day. You can learn about the history of Miami and enjoy some beautiful scenery.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
