All my life I have worked with kids. Whether it be babysitting or camp counseling, I constantly find myself surrounded by kids. Sometimes this can be overwhelming, but I have genuinely learned a few things after countless experiences with children.
1. Keep it simple
Life can become incredibly complicated, this is unfortunately true. As a kid, there is so much to know and so much to explore and this can be overwhelming. However, you never see kids getting too scared about it. Kids have a lot to deal with, just like adults, but they always see things as simple fact. Try and only focus on the important things and don't get caught up in the crazy.
2. Make time to play
Kids have a lot of energy and a lot of time to use it. Adults have a little bit of energy and not a lot of time to use it. However, finding time to go for a run or taking a trip to the amusement park can relieve some stress and release the little bit of kid left in you. Kids always make time to enjoy themselves despite their busy schedules and so should you.
3. Get some rest
In addition to time spent playing, take a page out of the kid handbook and make time for a nap. Treat yourself to early bedtimes and early mornings and make time for some R & R. Just like the parents of young kids make time for them to rest, carve out time for yourself to relax and recharge after a day of play.
4. Don't take yourself too seriously
There is a time and a place for being serious, but for the most part, there are few things in life to worry about. Children are carefree and worry about very little. Let the stress from your day roll off your back and understand that most things aren't worth the time you put into thinking about it. Kids may get angry when they lose their favorite block, but they move on quickly with a new toy or a different task. Take the same approach to life's problems and don't sweat the small stuff.
5. Laugh more
Kids find joy in the smallest things. Use that same excitement in your own life, and find the happiness in everything. Don't get so bogged down in daily trials and laugh your problems away.
6. Don't be afraid to cry it out
Children are very emotional, and sometimes the easiest thing to do is cry it out. Similarly, you may find the best solution for your problems is to have a good cry. Letting it all out can be therapeutic so long as you...
7. Pick yourself up
Being a kid means constant activity, and this means crashing hard from time to time. Kids tend to be clumsy and prone to accidents, but for the most part they are happy to pick themselves up and keep playing. If life has got you down, don't let it keep you down for long.
8. Always carry ibuprofen
It can be fun to spend lots of time with young kids, but it can also lead to headache. Make sure no matter what your day brings, you are prepared for any headache, misstep or injury, whatever it may be.
