Attention all future Bulldogs: the next four years at Tech are going to be some of the best you will experience. You make so many memories that will carry you through your life! Here are my eight that I think are the most important! But make sure to not wish away your college time! It goes faster than you think!!

1. Go to your Freshman Convocation

Each freshman has the chance to go to this. When you walk into Howard, you are handed a coin that at the end of the ceremony you will throw into the lady of the mist. When you graduate from Tech, when you are walking across the stage, you are handed a coin that looks the exactly the same as the one you threw into the fountain as a freshman. This is a right of passage.

2. Avoid the Seal

DO NOT STEP ON THE SEAL. No matter what you do. If you do, you better run as fast as you can to rub the top of the bulldogs head in the student center to help bring you luck. The legend goes, that the first ever bulldog is buried under the seal. Legend also states, that if you step on it, it takes you longer to graduate, if you graduate at all.

3.Go to all the sporting events you can

Whether it is football, basketball, softball, baseball, go to it. It is a great way to show your love for your school. This is the best time for you to make memories with your friends and the rest of the student body.

4.Take a picture with Tech

This is something that I have not gotten the chance to do, but can not wait to do. This is our living breathing mascot and every student should take a picture with him. If you see him on campus or at a sports game, stop what you are doing a take a picture with him.

5.Rub the bulldogs head

When walking in the student center make sure to always run the Bulldogs head. It is said that rubbing the head will bring you luck. Always try to stop by on the way to a test for some extra luck.

6.Get to know your tech family

Rather it's your teachers or other students, you need to get to know people at tech. Rather it's in class, at a campus event, sporting event, or just in the student center get to know the Tech Family. The people who are older than you can help you a lot. So take advance of this.

7.Go to union board events

Go to these free, yes I said free, on-campus events. Whether it's tech the halls, drive-in movie, or rus vegas, this is a great and fun way to do some stuff on campus. Union Board works super hard to put on these great events for students. Make sure to grab your friends and go to all the events! They also sell really cute t-shirts!!

8. Learn how to throw the bulldog up

Throw it up whenever you can! Every place is a great place for the Bulldog.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
