8 Things about Having 2 Sisters

And on the fifth day, God gave you sisters.

8 Things about Having 2 Sisters
Steven Tolle

A sister is a person who loves you unconditionally. Someone who is in your past and present and will be in your future. I was blessed to have two sisters. One sister is only a year older than I am and another is only two years older. My parents had three daughters all under the age of two-and-a-half. Now some would think that is pure crazy, but for me, it was the best thing on earth. The experiences the three of us had is not like any relationship out there.

Nap Time Didn’t Exist

How could you spend that hour of freedom sleeping when your favorite play buddies were right next to you? Lucky for you, you were three times more likely to hear your parents come to wake you up.

Making Fun Of Each Other Is More Fun

Watching your one sister fail at something is always more fun to make fun of when you have another person to help you. At least one of your sisters will have seen you fall on your butt walking into school and they would go tell the other. Most of all though they will never forget your embarrassing moments you had when you were younger like forgetting to wear pants out of the house to a public event. Lucky for you one of them can always be counted on to bring up those moments.

You Have Triple The Amount Of Clothes

If you didn’t like your wardrobe, then there was a completely different one right around the corner. Eventually, no one knows who actually owns each piece of clothing because it has been passed around by three different people. You always have to be careful with that though because socks and underwear are just as likely to be accidentally shared as the rest of your clothes.

Boredom Isn’t A Thing

When your best friends live in the same house as you, you have three times the amount of Netflix shows to be introduced to, multi-player board games, constant gossip and shared friends from three different grades.

Fights Were More Than An Everyday Occurrence

“She hit me."

She took the last hot dog."

"I called sitting in the passenger seat.”

No matter what it was from the smallest mistakes to a big mistake, a fight would always break out. With three of us there were endless things to fight about because there was always the tattletale that would start something and blame it on someone else. (A lot of times that was me. Oops!) Suddenly when the fights became physical and one of you started to cry there were two people to make you feel better.

Advice Is Legit

There was always two opinions. Two opinions about if that guy is cute or how to break it to mom and dad that you failed your chemistry test. Sending a text message that was extremely serious always took hours to figure out what exactly to say because you would argue about the right thing to write.

The Memories

From running around naked in the backyard as a kid, to remembering how amazing your grandpa was, your sisters were always there to have the same experiences you had. The tears, anger, happiness and excitement was shared between those two people who mean everything to you. Those late nights talking about mom and dad and how weird they are can only be done with your sister because you’re the only ones who actually know how weird mom and dad actually are.

Loving From Afar

Growing up is hard especially when college comes around. When all three of you are in different places at different schools. Not having my sisters by my side every day is a challenge, but knowing that no matter what happens and what becomes of you, your sisters will always love you because they’re a part of you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
