8 Struggles You Face When You're The Last Of Your Friends To Turn 21

You'll appreciate being younger than all your friends one day.

8 Struggles You Face When You're The Last Of Your Friends To Turn 21

Since the beginning of time you've been referred to as the baby of the group. People always struggle to understand why your sooo young but in the same grade as them. You're the last to do everything big; last to get your drivers licenses, last to turn 18 and last to embark on the journey of finally turning 21.

Once junior year of college rolls around so do the big "twenty-fun" birthdays. Just about everyone looks forward to their 21st birthday and all the fun adult things that come with finally turning 21. With 21 years comes: liquor store runs, long nights at the bars, happy hours and finally being ~legal~.

The process of watching everyone around you turn 21 while you're still sitting at a solid 20 years of age is slow and painful, hopefully the wait is worth your while once the big day finally comes. But until then, here are the struggles you'll face:

1. You have to hope your friends' Friday night plans don't involve going to the bars

...and if they do involve going to the bars you better cozy up in bed with some Netflix because you're not getting in.

2. When you go to happy hour with all your friends they all order drinks

While they're ordering another round of margaritas, you're stuck ordering another round of water with lemon.

3. Your FOMO is at an all-time high

All you want is to go out and dance until bar close, but you can't. You feel like you're missing out on the funnest nights ever. (At least, that's how your friends describe them.)

4. You're convinced your parents made you be the youngest of your grade on purpose

"I know you guys held me back just so I could sit out on all the happy hours." Okay, you know that was not their first thought when they held you back but you just want someone to blame.

5. Your friends' pre-games are your parties

Obviously all your friends are gonna get together and have a couple drinks before heading out to the bars. But that's right where your night stops; as soon as they head out, you're heading to bed.

6. On the off chance the 21-year-olds stay for a house party, you're the one who gets in trouble when it gets busted

"Everyone who is not 21, HIDE!" Guess what! This isn't the cops' first rodeo. You'll get caught while your friends are trying to catch the next cab to go downtown.

7. When you finally do build up the courage to try and sneak into the bars, you get denied.

Every time. It's inevitable, you're not getting in no matter how much you sweet talk the bouncer and promise you'll only drink waters while inside the establishment.

8. And once you do get denied, you're friends that are of age aren't coming home with you

Why would they miss out on the fun times just cause you can't get in? Better call a cab or start walking cause it looks like you're on your own for this one.

Look, it's not like I'm really that upset that I'm missing the wild nights out with all of my friends (only kinda upset) but I just want to go to brunch and have a damn mimosa with my girls on Sunday morning. Until the day comes though, the struggle is real. Luckily there are only 11 more months until I'm welcomed into this world of adulthood, who's counting though?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
