Oh, adult life. How much we LOVE it. It's honestly the best thing in the world! Okay, okay, obviously you can tell that was pure and utter sarcasm but seriously. Adult life is not my cup of tea. Some of us have hit the adult phase, while others of us (myself totally included) are in that "Almost Adult" phase. Now you may be asking yourself "what is an almost adult?" So basically it's every twenty-something year old because let's face it do any of us really have our lives together? The answer is slim to none. With student debt piled high, the struggles of bills, living on your own, finding a "real job" and freaking cooking for yourself isn't the dream life you hoped for. McDreamy isn't coming out of your TV to become your lover and you're most definitely not a world-class neurosurgeon who was in an accident and therefore making millions more than you already made. Yes sadly. The real world is a big pile of crap that LOVES throwing curveballs at you. God has a sick sense of humor in my opinion.
1. Eating healthy is a major struggle.
Let's be completely real. How does one eat healthy? This is an honest question. Especially when you work all the time and Chick Fil A can cook for you.
2. The struggle of finding a real job is way too real.
Let's be honest, whether you're in school, graduated, or not in school at all (like myself) finding a "real job" is such a hard thing to do. You can be completely qualified and maybe have a degree and it's still so damn hard. Entry level is even becoming difficult. But don't let that make you wanna give up! Keep searching, the right one will come along.
3. Money
What is this money thing people keep speaking of? Whether you live alone, have a roommate, or still live at home to attempt to save money, money is sucked out of you. Regardless of what you do and it sucks. But no worries! One day (when you're 90) you could be debt free and living life to the fullest! Don't give up!!
4. Relying less on your parents
The hardest part about growing up and becoming an adult? Relying less on your parents for food, money, clothing, shelter. Mainly money and shelter. As you become older you realize that when you borrow money from your parentals, they seem to want it back because you're that adult thing now. But no worries, regardless you'll always have them.
5. Relationships
We are at that age where literally EVERYONE is either in a serious relationship, getting married, engaged, or pregnant. And then... There's you. It's the most annoying thing in the world. But don't sweat it. It's all in your head and you will find your "special someone".
6. Friendships
In high school, making friends was so much easier than in college and out in the real world. High school you just clicked with a certain group pretty much. I know for myself it was easier then because I was in show choir and involved with theatre so you hung out with those people pretty much all 4 years, but now in college even liking a roommate can be difficult. And don't get me started on work. That's even harder. I kinda forced my coworkers to be my friends. But the friendships you will make in college and at work, will be lifelong.
7. Acting your age
Being an adult is so hard.. Honestly. And acting your age?! Oh dear God no. Seriously why would I want to go to a gala function when you could sit home, watch cartoons and eat ice cream? I'm dead serious, acting your age is probably the worst thing you'd have to do as an adult. When you do these "adult things" you have to talk about "adult problems" *eyeroll* when honestly you could give two hoots less about the election, economy or anything boring. AND you have to refrain from laughing at the immature things people will say without realizing. What a blow.
8. Life
It's definitely more difficult to become an adult. But thinking about it, adult life is crazy, beautiful, tormenting and hysterical all at the same time. It can be painful at times, but was life made to be easy? Absolutely not and I wouldn't want it easy if it saved me. So remember when life gets you low, it's okay to play rock paper scissors, build a fort out of boxes and beg for money (or declare bankruptcy). Because one day all will be well and you will have money and will be married with a great spouse.
Just breathe! And good luck!
