For those of you that are addicted to Netflix, this article is for you. It explains the journey that you go through every time you find a new series to watch. You promise yourself just one more episode but we all know that means at least three more.
1) You search for what seems like forever to find your next show to watch.
This may involve watching several Pilot episodes of different series, until you find the right one.
2) Once you've found your series, you start watching one or two episodes a day--for a week or so.
After all, the first few episodes are still trying to get you into the swing of things and aren't too exciting.
3) Then you become hooked and watch a minimum of five episodes throughout the day.
Homework? Who even does that these days. Work? Overrated. Socialization? Not needed. This is when your friends start to get frustrated with you and realize that you are basically dead to them for the next week or two.
Also--there is no need to waste 15 seconds between episodes. I know I'm going to watch the next one, my laptop knows, so Netflix should know and stop asking. It's a waste of everyone's time.
4) Eventually you start to watch the show the entire day.
Yes Netflix, I am still here. Don't judge me. Stop that. Don't make me move from my comfortable spot to click that button. That's just rude.
5) One day--it just ends. And you have so many emotions that you don't know how to act.
It feels like you just got broken up with. Your latest love and addiction is over. But you knew it was coming--there are only so many episodes.
Doesn't mean it hurts any less.
6) You take a few days off to think about what you just went through and tell yourself you can't do it again. It isn't healthy.
You can't get lost in the lust of a new series. You need to get on with your life and do something productive (maybe even go outside for the first time in a long time).
7) After a few days away, you start to look for a new series and promise yourself you'll only watch one or two episodes a week.
But of course, deep down you know this is a lie.
8) After about two minutes, you take your casual search to the next level--it's time to find a newer and better show to watch.
You need something that will pull you in even more than the last one. Who cares if it's healthy? It's a part of you.
