Eight Stages Of Back To School Shopping

Summer vacation is coming to a close, but the start of school is all you can think about, especially going shopping! Outlet malls and shopping centers get crowded with families, ready to empty their wallets. Stores with SALE signs, or 50 percent , 60 percent, and 70 percent off signs draw you in and you tell yourself, “I’m gonna get great deals today!” Although you’ve done it for years, you always go through these stages when going back to school shopping.

1. “I’m gonna get this, this, and this. That’s it.”

Before you get to the stores, you have made up a list. You intend on staying to that list so you don’t over spend, and so you won’t have to come back again because you NEED what is on this list.

2. “I’ll be in and out of here.. WHAT IT’S ALREADY 3 P.M.?”

You’ve made it to the first store of your shopping day and end up spending the most time there. You’ve managed to build up so much shopping energy that the first clothes you get your hands on are the most glorious things you’ve ever seen.

3. You head right to the back of the store because that’s where the clearance section is.

Everything is already 20 percent off, but why settle when you could find other things that are 50 percent off? Who cares if its summer clothes that are marked down, you need new clothes.

'

4. “Should I try this on..? Ehh why not.”

Everything is so cheap you could get multiples in different colors, and even though it’s the same shirt or pants, you’ve got to try one on in every color. So you head your way to the fitting rooms with eight of the same shirts hung on your arm.

5. The fitting room.

When you get in the room, it almost takes 20 minutes to try everything on. You’ve got to look at yourself at every angle in the mirror, and ask your friends five times if you look good to make sure you should get it, not to mention the selfie sesh because the lighting is great and the possibility of you not getting it is real.

6.The checkout line.

You already had to wait in line for the fitting room, now you’ve got to wait in another line to purchase your goodies. To keep yourself occupied, you go through the bins of $3 accessories, and you end up picking up a few things before getting to the register. When you see your total, you slightly cringe but there's nothing you can get rid of and hand them your money.

7. Leaving with 10 bags of new clothes, and nothing but receipts in your wallet.

The day started off with excitement, and determination. At the end of the day your arms are sore from carrying shopping bags and your feet are tired from going around the entire mall. You throw everything in the back seat of your car, and have trouble remembering what you ended up buying.

8. “Huh.. thought I got way more than this.”

Since it took the whole day to get what you needed from your list (and more), you expected to have a whole new wardrobe. In reality, you only bought things from five out of a billion stores you went to in the mall. At the end of the day, you’re relieved and yank off the price tags to forget that you can’t eat out until your next pay check.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
