Getting an internship is the perfect way for college students to gain real-world experience in whatever field interests them. But this process can become very stressful. Here is a list of stages that everyone trying to get a summer internship can relate to.
1. Inspiration
While lying on the beach on summer would be ideal, that isn't always practical. You've come to the conclusion that getting an internship could be life changing and you are finally willing to take that extra step and start applying.
2. Overwhelmed
You're really overwhelmed by the entire application process, some applications could take up to thirty minutes to apply to and others take around five minutes. You're not even sure where to look for internships.
3. Annoyed
If you have to write one more cover letter you might have to kill someone.
4. Excitement
Some internships have already started to respond back to you and they want to set up an interview. You can't help feeling a little excited that all your hard work is starting to pay off.
5. Confusion
Are you even qualified for the job? Who knows. But it can't hurt to just apply.
6. Anxiousness
You've already had a few interviews, but nobody has gotten back to you. You can't help but feel a little doubtful.
7. Determination
You keep applying and applying to different internships until you start to get a response from someone.
8. Happiness
The interview went smoothly. They offer you the position. You can't wait to tell everyone how happy you are!
