8 Songs To Bring Your August To Life

Similar to my previous playlist that I generated for the month of July, I am back this month with another one for August. Since August is the last month of summer, things are starting to wind down and ease up. I've decided to create an 8 song playlist that will, hopefully, help you effortlessly transition into the more relaxed energy that the season of Fall usually brings. These songs cater to a variety of different genres, so there should be something beneficial for everyone in this playlist.

1. "Hold On" by Colbie Caillat

Colbie Caillat's good-natured, soothing lyrics and vocals are present throughout her entire discography. And this song doesn't shy away from the typical "bubbly" Colbie sound. In fact, this song showcases her whimsical vibrations in a more powerful way through its echoey chorus. This 2014 personal favorite of mine never fails to calm me down and put me in a laid-back kind of mood. Perfect to ease you to sleep and forget about any back-to-school related stress.

2. "Final Song" by MØ

You may know MØ from being featured on Major Lazer's two big hits, "Lean On" and "Cold Water" -- however this track is all her own. This Danish singer's voice is very captivating and makes for a very energetic, nonchalant kind of song. "Final Song" provides listeners with a more easy-listening dance song, absolutely perfect for the end of summer. Without this song's snappy production and stuttering, yet catchy chorus it would simply not be. Definitely a song that should be played in all, last-minute, long summer road trips.

3. "Your Body Is A Wonderland" - John Mayer

Following MØ's explosive, yet cooling, end-of-summer anthem, comes this throwback. Although this is one of John Mayer's biggest hits, the song still sounds refreshing with each listen. John's hushed and soft vocals paired with the song's twinkling production make this song really sound like it came right out of "wonderland." If you're looking for a throwback song to put you in a happy-go-lucky kind of mood, you've found it with this song.

4. "Cool Girl" by Tove Lo

No playlist of mine would be complete without Tove Lo. This, "fresh out of the oven," song is utterly perfect to help us end the summer on a high note. The lyrics that allude to the hit movie, Gone Girl, make for a super catchy singalong. Accompanied with invigoratingly funky synths, this song will for sure be stuck in everyone's heads as we travel into the upcoming Autumn months.

5. "Capsize" by FRENSHIP ft. Emily Warren

"Capsize" is another perfect song that blends dance-influenced production with cool and calming lyrics. There's a lot going on in this song but everything combines to make an explosive track. The male and female singers singing to each other almost makes this song seem like a story, providing a very intense imaginative visual. Ultimately, this song is very unique and if you have a knack for dance music, then this is definitely a song you should try out.

6. "How Bizarre" by OMC

You might recognize this song from the 90s film, Parent Trap, however, regardless of its reputation, this song is a perfect summer throwback. With its light-hearted guitar production and exquisite vocal variety, this song brings a lot to the table. This addictively "bizarre" track should be queued on everyone's playlist this summer.

7. "This Is The Place" by Red Hot Chili Peppers

This oldie, straight from RHC's "By The Way," album sounds perfect in this August playlist. This song is just a sliver from this masterpiece of an album, and it's quirky, yet deep, lyrics call for a very interesting carefree track. If this song doesn't suit your mood, then I'm sure something off this fourteen year-old album will because the Red Hot Chili Peppers have an amazing way of creating lyrically intense, yet sonically captivating songs.

8. "If I Lose Myself" by OneRepublic

Definitely one of my favorite songs from the past decade, and an extremely underrated one if that. Ryan Tedder uses his gift of singing and production to create a very easy-spirited song. Although, this song classifies as a hot adult contemporary dance track, it is a song that can realistically cater to any music lover. The mellow, soothing undertones this song provides calls for an absolutely amazing exit to this playlist, and the summer.

There's nothing I love more than discovering new music, so I sincerely wish that these songs are of use to you and that they make everyone's final summer 2016 days all the more amazing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
