If you've maintained a friendship for over 10 years already, give yourselves a pat on the back! That means if you've gotten this far, you’ll be friends for a lifetime. In college, many friends think it will be difficult to keep a friendship because of the distance, but if you're like me, you know that won’t stop you guys. Boundaries, literally and physically, don't even apply anymore. They are your rock, your go-to, your lifelines. Shoutout to the one's in my life that have been there for over 10 years and still put up with me daily! If you've officially reached that point in your friendship with your people, here are a few signs that’ll make you say “yep thats us”:
1. You can go week, even months without seeing each other and manage to pick up right where you left off.
Especially when you go to a different college, coming home is the best feeling ever because you get to see your BFFs again.
2. Same goes with communication: no matter how long it’s been since you last talked, it doesn't take long for you to play catch up.
Self explanatory really; texting, calling, FaceTime, snapchat etc. doesn't really do the trick sometimes. Seeing each other face to face and being able to talk makes everything better.
3. You can show up to their house unexpected like nothing is weird about it.
Even if they aren't there, you've got their sibs to hang with.
4. You're an honorary member of their family too.
Their parents treat you like one of their own; who else wouldn't love to have a second set of parents to love you unconditionally (sometimes you're even considered the “favorite”)
5. Their pets get excited to see you and vice versa.
It's like they think you're an adopted sister/brother to them.
6. They know all the people you know, from all of your roommates to the newest/oldest flame in your life.
And they know which ones to keep an eye on in case they need to fight them for you.
7. You both travel down memory lane, reminiscing on all of the times you've had together.
And if you don't remember a memory, not to worry because the other one will, and scold you for not remembering too.
8. You know you'll always be best friends.
If you can survive 10+ years already, there's no turning back now. After all, they already know too much, so it looks like you're stuck with them for life!
