If you have a parent that is a teacher, you know the completely different world you lived in as a child. Things were different and school was probably that much more important. So here are 8 signs you were raised by a teacher.
1. Your summer consisted of many trips to their classroom.
Teachers must get their classroom together during the summer and you know as well as anyone what their school looked like. The bathroom is down the hall and to the right, and the library is to the left.
2. You always got asked about your life from random teachers.
In the off chance that you go visit your parent at school, Mrs. Johnson always asks you about that one soccer game that you lost in overtime. Or Mrs. Smith asks about the boy you went to the school dance with.
3. Your homework was always done first.
No matter what you wanted to do after school, homework was the first priority. No one was leaving the house until homework was completed and checked.
4. Your actual teacher would ask you how your parent is.
Every now and then your actual teacher would ask about your parent because they were so involved in the parent-teacher conference and asked a ton of questions.
5. Your cursive was impeccable.
The repetition that came along with learning cursive is something engraved in everyone's mind. But imagine how many more times a child of a teacher had to do it. They made you do it, and do it well.
6. Your love for TAKE YOUR CHILD TO WORK DAY.
Take Your Child to Work Day was the best day of the year. You basically got to switch roles from normal everyday life. You were now helping the teacher teach a classroom full of students. You were the boss now and the other kids were jealous, sort of.
7. You eagerly waited for holiday parties.
During the holiday parties at school, the teacher typically gets showered in gifts. Well when your parent is the teacher, what's theirs is yours. It was like a warm up for Christmas morning.
8. You considered, more than once, being a teacher when you grew up.
You saw the bad days and the good days first hand. You saw the work that goes into this job and you also saw the love. The love their students had for your parent and the love your parent had for their students. There's nothing more pure than that, and therefore you deeply considered this field of work.
Being raised by a teacher is no easy task. You basically never leave school, however, it is the most rewarding relationship. Plus, when you try and get into your bank account and the security question asks you who your favorite teacher was, you'll never forget the answer.
