Anderson Township is the home to two rivalry high schools, both of which belong to the only district in the nation recognized for energy efficiency (keep in mind a majority of the schools don't have air conditioning). The Forest Hills Local School District is located in the Southeastern part of Hamilton County and is less than 30 minutes away from the city of Cincinnati. The district’s schools have won numerous awards for fine arts, academics and sports, making it one of the best school districts in the state Ohio. Whether you currently attend one of the schools or have long since graduated, everyone has a memory that is worth sharing from attending one of the many schools in this district.
1. The Anderson vs. Turpin rivalry really got to you at one point in your life.
You remember those elementary years when you were divided by the rivalry so early on based on where you lived (it was a big deal, you didn't associate with the kids from the neighborhood across the street), and that continued on through middle school and high school. While you may not care much for the rivalry now, you definitely did at one point.
2. You partook in the rivalry Twitter fights, or just retweeted them all.
Let's be real, no one paid attention in class when it was the week of the big game. Twitter was your main concern.
3. You suffered going to a school without air conditioning.
You probably went to an elementary school that didn't have air conditioning and suffered again once you got to high school. And if you're lucky and somehow avoided that, well, everyone else hates you. (Turpin kids, I’m talking about you.)
4. You complained to Dally J. via Twitter about not getting snow days like you're getting denied a basic human right.
The highlight of your night was reading all the tweets directed towards Dallas. The best was when the school district would actually reply with really sassy responses to your tweet.
5. You know it's basically two districts.
Forest Hills is the only school district in Ohio with one middle school and two high schools. Remember when everyone cried the last day at Nagel? As if we weren't going to see these people ever again. Yeah, not one of my proudest moments.
6. You never really understood why there was only one middle school.
It was a weird time. All six elementary schools were forced to come together and become best friends, and then you were forced to separate from them for the next four years. It really doesn't make sense. Don't forget that good ol' Nagel saying, "Why are we here? To learn!"
7. You refer to Anderson Township as "the bubble."
Going out into the real world is such a culture shock for those who grew up in "the bubble.” The nicknames are endless, but moms seem to enjoy “A-town” the most.
8. You made fun of the "Nageland" section at football games once you were in high school and denied ever being a part of that during your Nagel days.
You know, those middle schoolers who invaded one whole section of the football stadium, and all they did was take pictures wearing their side ponytails and Nagel football hoodies.
9. Anderson High School was known for the cockroaches and plumbing problems.
Yeah, that’s right. Cockroaches. You never knew what you were going to see in the halls or classrooms of AHS, and you became a pro at avoiding the unexpected mishaps in the middle of the halls.
10. You remember when Anderson beat Turpin back in 2007.
Basically what went down is that Anderson scored at the last second and ended up winning, and it was legendary.
You can see how intense this moment was for the whole community.
Did you grow up in Anderson Township? If so, feel free to share the memories you made while in school! We'd love to hear about your favorite moments.
