We all have that one friend who acts more like your mom than your actual mom does sometimes. If your friend group doesn’t have a designated “mom” in it, you are probably the mom friend, but guess what? It is OK to be that mom friend. Here are a couple signs to you tell whether you are that “mom friend” or not:
1. You always have medicine/first-aid kit with you.
Whenever one of your friends gets hurt or needs some medicine for a headache they always end up going to you.
2. All your friends ask you for advice.
They ask you because they know you'll break it down for them to easily understand what they need to do. It's nice being asked for advice on whatever. It makes you feel important.
3. You constantly have to remind your friends of important tasks/dates.
There have been many times where I have to ask my friends to make sure they have eaten enough or went to the bathroom before we left on a trip somewhere or even if they have done their homework. If their answers are no, then I make sure they do the tasks the need to do.
4. You often send the “did you make it back safe text.”
We worry. We want to make sure you are safe and still alive.
5. Before you go somewhere you check to see if everyone has everything they need.
It's become a routine of mine to ask my roommate if she has her keys before she leaves. I just don't want her to be locked out or end up forgetting something important.
6. Snacks. You always have snacks.
Nutri-Grain bars and Pop-Tarts are always in my purse.
7. You get into arguments, defending your friends.
Moms will fight to the death for their children similarly to how us "mom friends" fight for our friends. We just prefer to do it in a passive aggressive way.
8. Your friends say things like "got it mom" or "jeez mom OK" to you.
Sorry, we care about you and love you.
