As a college freshman, having a month off is something I'm not used to, and sometimes it flies, but other times it drags on. I've compiled a list of the reasons I know it's time to get back to campus life.
1. You've binge-watched more shows than you can count.
Don't get me wrong; there's nothing wrong with watching TV, but it becomes a problem when you've watched more episodes, seasons, and series than you can keep track of. (If you're looking for a show, though, watch "Quantico.")
2. You can't take another conversation with someone who asks what your major is, how college is, and if you're dating anyone yet.
Everyone's curious, but the same few questions are repeatedly killing you.
3. You haven't changed out of your pajamas in too long.
I, too, spend time in my pajamas, but it's gotten to the point where I wish for class so that I have to change. I could easily sit here for a week straight in these flannel pants and an oversized shirt.
4. You can't go out at any hour of the night.
If your parents are anything like mine, there's no way you're hanging out with your friends at 2 in the morning like you usually would.
5. You miss your friends!
Not everyone is a simple drive or subway ride away, and you're seriously missing having them around at all times.
6. You're constantly eating.
With a meal plan, eating is limited, but with a fridge and a pantry, it's not. Eating just because you're bored is a thing, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I personally can't wait to get back on a "normal" eating schedule, even if that means having dinner at 11 p.m.
7. There's literally nothing to do.
Unless you have a job to go back to, sitting at home and occasionally hanging out with people gets really boring really fast. It's gotten to the point where I miss classes because not only does it give me something to focus on, but I enjoy what I'm taking.
8. You have no sense of time.
If you're anything like me, you have no sense of time anyway, but there's something nice about waking up at a certain time, going to class, getting food, hanging out, and going to sleep. Even if you have that dreadful 8:30 a.m. class, schedules aren't always that bad. On break as I've noticed, with no reason to wake up or go to bed at a decent hour, I can easily stay up all night and then just sleep until 2 in the afternoon just because I can.
As I'm writing this, I have 11 days left until I can be back in my dorm and surrounded by my friends. Regardless of how much you miss college, though, be sure to spend some time with your family. Even though you're eager to get back, they've just gotten used to having you around. In conclusion, change out of your pajamas, get some fresh air, and enjoy the last few days of having an empty schedule.
