Formals are a really fun time to spend the last weekend of school with your friends, having one last "hoorah." Sure you can bring a guy like everyone normally does but do you know what's better? Your roommate. Bring your roommate and there's no judgement, tension, or required ladylikeness about the event. Be your 100% self and you'll never have to fish for compliments that night either. They'll make sure you know how hot you are.

1. There's no pressure/ awkwardness to ask them.

Having to ask someone or worry about being asked to the prom or a dance was horrible. Were they gonna laugh at you? Did they already have a date? Would they only go with you out of pity? Is there some unspoken awkward sexual tension between the two of you that neither of you will deal with it? Asking your roommate will be a much more relaxed experience and you know they have no choice but to say yes.

2. Your proposal will be better or funnier.

Because you're roommate's with them, you probably have an open inappropriate, nothing off limits friendship with them so you could joke about or say anything to them and they'll not only get you, but welcome you with open arms and belly laugh.

3. They'll tell you're beautiful in your dress.

A night full of copious amounts of compliments.

4. You can be as inappropriate with them as you want.

No need for manners or to be ladylike around your date. Be as unladylike as you want to be because you're date's honestly not gonna say anything.

5. They won't smell awful by the end of the night.

Sorry guys, but after a night or partying and dancing, you can smell pretty rank. Now we all get sweaty, but I can assure you, us girls come prepared to not stank it up after a few hours.

6. You know they'll always dance when you want to.

No complaining from your date that "Ughhhhh, not right now I just ate." Or, "Nah, it's a slow dance". Your roommate will ALWAYS dance with you. And they make fast paced songs much more fun.

7. Your pictures will turn out so much better.

You both are already super hot on your own, so dressed up with your hair and nails done, and some duds and you'll break the camera.

8. You can be your full self the entire time.

Living with someone means you practically have nothing to hide anyway, so why try to hold back at formal.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
