8. So that the next time you decide to hop on the bandwagon and post a tweet about the next big political, pop cultural or social controversy that you over hear your friends complaining about, you don’t make a fool of yourself.

It is simply unfair to yourself and to anyone you may be giving advice to, that you would advise yourself or anyone else to make a choice on something going on in a reality that you have not truly tried to inform yourself about.

By watching the news daily, you are able to see the weakness that are pointed in societies all around the globe. This may not be the most positive thing to see every day, but it is a sure way to give your self a chance to be aware of the problems in the world and there for a chance to even help improve a few that you may find yourself passionate about.
5. So that you are not just blindly and ignorantly living life. If the only thing you ever tune in for is entertainment news or a comedic report then that is the sense that you are seeing the world through. For example, if the biggest story that you hear all day is that Chloe and Lamar’s on again off again relationship may be on again, then that is pretty much the pinnacle of your awareness of the world for that day.
4. So that you are able to confidently justify your political stance. Whatever candidate resonates with you, whatever policies you despise or support, it does not have any real justification for your disapproval or approval if you do not thoroughly understand what or who you may be condemning or cheering on. Not just anyone or anything deserves for you to rally behind them, your support as well as your criticism should not just be blindly given away. Keeping up with the news allows for you to find out more and to listen to multiple sides of every candidate, incumbent and every issue.
