8 Reasons Why You Should Be In Chaarg
Hannah Neu

I knew when I came to college I wanted to join some groups. I wanted to become more involved at school. One of my best friends who also attends the same school as me had told me about a fitness group for women called Chaarg. At first, I was a little hesitant. I wasn’t the type that liked to work out. They say you never know until you try, but after deciding to join, I was glad I did. Here are 8 reasons why you should be in Chaarg.

1. You learn to love working out more.

Like I said before, I wasn’t the type that liked to work out before. I wasn’t very motivated and never really had anybody to work out with before that would push me. The thing about Chaarg is there are so many girls there who motivate you to keep going just when you feel like quitting. Chaarg has taught me that working out can, in fact, be fun if you make it fun!

2. Monday night workouts are the BOMB.

And the best part is, there are two sessions in case you miss one! (Or in case you like to watch the Bachelor at 9 and would prefer the 8 o’ clock session). Every Monday we do a new workout. Yes you read that right. A NEW WORKOUT EVERY MONDAY. We have done different things like yoga, boxing, barre, and other different workouts with different studios around the area. Sometimes we even make up our own workouts for each other and do them.

3. You can make so many new friends.

Every college student has that moment their freshmen year when they mildly panic just a little thinking about making new friends. Chaarg is a great place to meet so many new friends, all different ages! You get to bond by sweating through each workout and maybe comparing to see if you have gotten any closer to getting abs.

4. You don’t always just stay on campus for workouts.

Remember in elementary school when you got so excited to go on a field trip? Well, those feelings don’t change when you get to go on trips in college too. We have traveled to many different locations for super fun workouts.

5. You can get even closer with some of the girls by joining a small group.

A small group in Chaarg is, well, a small group of members. You get to pick your group based on what day and time works best for your schedule, so everybody can join one. You and your small group get together once a week and do a workout or a fun activity together. (Like playing heads up for two hours).

6. The Chaarg gear is absolutely ADORABLE.

Do you want to look cute while you work out? (I know that sounds almost impossible, but hear me out). The Chaarg shop on their website has a lot of cute Chaarg gear, from tank tops to shirts, from headbands to water bottles, and even jewelry. I mean, have you really seen cute headbands until you've seen Sweaty Bands?

7. The exec team and small group leaders are flat out amazing.

It takes a lot to be a leader, and the exec team and small group leaders do an amazing job at what they do. They are in charge of planning the events we do and planning our workouts, all while keeping us motivated and pushing ourselves to be the best we can be.

And the most important reason why you should be in Chaarg:

8. You become a better version of yourself.

Chaarg has truly changed my life for the better. I have learned that with a little bit of motivation, I can do anything I set my mind too, and being in Chaarg has taught me just that. Before school ended we celebrated by going on a retreat to a park in Northern Kentucky. We got to bond with each other and just enjoy ourselves. Not too many groups you join let you make those types of bonds with one another and teach you to learn to love yourself.

If you are a woman who is currently in college and you know Chaarg is at your school, don’t be afraid to join it! It is an amazing group to join and you won’t regret it. If you aren’t sure if Chaarg is at your school, check out their website at Chaarg.com to see if your school is there! It truly is such an inspiring group, and every college should consider being in Chaarg too.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
