Kid President has become known as a source of positivity and light for his thousands of followers on Youtube and Twitter. What started as a small video project for Robby Novak, aka Kid President, and his brother-in-law, Brad Montague, turned into something much bigger. They release videos with positive messages and pep talks, they had a television show on the Hub Network, and they also created a book called "Kid President's Guide to Being Awesome." The Kid President team is wonderful and it is a personal aspiration of mine to have a dance party with them. Here are the top 8 reasons why you should join the Kid President party.
1. His Reaction to Meeting (and Kissing) Beyoncé
Kid President made a video asking Beyoncé to be in a video with him for World Humanitarian Day. As if that weren't adorable enough, he used dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets to act out how the interview would go. Well, he did get the interview, but Beyoncé asking him for a kiss is something he never would have acted out with chicken nuggets. Instead, after the interview, he made an entire segment riding around his town telling anyone who would listen that he got to kiss her. His excitement was palpable and for a moment we all kind of wished we were him.
2. His Love of Corndogs
In his "20 Things We Should Say More Often Video," Kid President decides surprising a friend with a corn dog is awesome and people should do it more often. His love of corn dogs is so strong that in a box promoting the paperback of his book there is even a corn dog sticker. Random, but awesome. I'm a fan of inside jokes and callbacks, so corn dogs are definitely something I think of when I think of KP.
3. He is the Only President I Will 100% Support Forever
One of Kid President's mottos is "Don't be in a party. Be a party." When I tell you that the Kid President brand exudes positivity, I'm not exaggerating. He is a voice for children and he is also a voice for adults who reminds us not to let the little stresses in life get us down. Instead of choosing sides in life, he's suggesting we all just have fun. That's my kind of president, even when he's no longer a kid.4. He Loves Dancing
In almost all of his videos, Kid President dances. One of my favorite quotes of his is, "Give the world a reason to dance" and I just love the sentiment of that statement. Sure, life can get us down sometimes, but breaking into spontaneous dance makes everything a little better. Every time he dances, I dance, and it makes me smile.
5. He Gives Amazing Pep Talks
From moms to teachers to students to everyday heroes, there is a Kid President pep talk guaranteed to make you feel better. A personal favorite is "Kid President's Letter to a Person on their First Day Here." I mean, it's hard not to love a kid who says things like "Even if hate has a bullhorn, love is louder."
6. He Started Socktober
Socktober was started to create awareness about the fact that socks are not donated often to homeless shelters, yet they are very important items during the cold winter months. Originally started by Brad Montague, Kid President and Brad started making videos about Socktober in 2013 and the idea took off. In the past few years, Socktober has reached countries all over the world, and over a million socks were donated. For more information go to http://happysocktober.com/7. His Laugh
His laugh is contagious. Not only is it contagious, he laughs ALL the time. Basically, there is a 0 percent chance you won't come away from his videos feeling happier. This is my favorite video of him laughing: Kid President Shares Your Things We Should Say More Often
8. Brad!
Brad is just plain awesome. He's the brains behind the whole Kid President operation and he exudes a level of positivity that I can only hope to achieve. His tweets are always kind and I love watching him interact with Robby.
If you are ever at any point in your life when you need a pick-me-up, watching Kid President videos is the way to go. Robby and Brad effortlessly make me smile every single time I watch their videos and I thank them for continually giving me a reason to dance. :D
