Not to quote Bowling for Soup or anything but “I’ve seen all the classics I know every line Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, even St. Elmo’s Fire.” You could say that I am an old soul but I have always felt that I would have thrived in the 80s’.

I know that the movies don’t always portray the most accurate of things but that being said if I could pick any decade to grow up in I would have definitely picked the 80s. So here are eight reasons I would have thrived in the 80s

1. Clothes

I would have greatly enjoyed the fashion and the clothes. I would like to think I would look awesome like Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink. In reality, I would probably have had the fashion sense of Ally Sheedy from the Breakfast Club.

2. Cars

Yes! I know that I am a girl but I would have really loved to have any of the many amazing cars that are now considered “classics” but I also would have loved a Bug or a little Ford Pinto.

3. Hair

I would have thrived with the big hair I don’t know if I would have enjoyed it but I would have definitely been able to pull it off….I think. I don’t know if I could have handled the guys with mullets though.

4. Music

I can just see myself listening to Simple Minds or Whitesnake on my Walkman.

5. Games

I would have been that nerd in the arcade with the top score of Dig Dug or Pacman.

6. Drive-in Movies

I know for a fact I would love Drive-in Movies because I have been to a Drive-in before and I know that I would have enjoyed spending my weekend nights at the movies.

7. Books

Judy Blume, Indian in the Cupboard, flowers in the Attic series, need I say more?

8. Movies

Need I mention all the great movies that came out during the amazing 10 years like Star Wars, Footloose, Top Gun, Goonies, and The Breakfast Club.

So the 1980’s a time I wish I could have grown up in but as my mom tells that I am not allowed to know some of her and my dad's stories "until I'm older"….So if that tells you anything. Thankfully, I can enjoy also everything I love about the 80s here in 2018 so there is no need for me to try and recreate Back to the Future. Which is totally awesome! Peace out my dudes!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
