Choosing a college is one of the biggest decisions of your life. It can either make or break your years as a young adult, and with almost 5,000 universities to choose from, it can be quite overwhelming. There are usually two categories schools get placed under: big and small. Pretty simple, right? Wrong. Even with those two labels, it's still extremely stressful picking the place where you'll be spending 4+ years of your life. The general consensus is that bigger schools excel in everything that small schools don't. If you're confused or just completely uninformed, never fear! I am here to help. Let me tell you a few things that I know to be true about small colleges:
1. You'll probably see someone you know everywhere you go.
Getting so many "hello's" is pretty exhausting.
2. You're (almost) never late for class because everything is so close together.
You may or may not have hit snooze about a thousand times before actually getting up, since you have the time to spare.
3. It's hard to get lost.
You don't get to walk around with one of those cool campus maps bigger schools have? What a loss.
4. You know almost everyone in your major.
5. The professors know you by name.
6. It's really hard not to be involved in something on campus.
"I'd love to go to the SGA meeting, but I have something for the Activities Board and the RA committee and the Student Recruitment team. So sorry about that."
7. Residence Halls are pretty much always open door.
Does that mean I can just walk into someone's room and say hello? Must be so hard talking to so many people you know.
8. Student life is lit.
It's usually just friendly competition because everyone knows each other. How annoying.
