I talk to my mom every single day. This weekend, we FaceTimed for 2 hours straight. Whether it's good news, bad news, or just general gossip, I grab my phone to call my mom as soon as I find out something. Sure, I have lots of friends I could call instead, but when I think about someone I want to share the big things in life with, my mom is at the top of that list. Some people may think that it is weird or unusual, but for me, it's just life.

My mom is my best friend, and I am lucky to have her. I don't get to see her as much as I wish I could because I am away at college, but I look forward to spending time with her anytime I can. So why do I consider myself so lucky to have my mom as my best friend?

1. I can guarantee I will have this friend for life.

I will never have to worry about losing this friend over a nonsense fight or petty drama. She is a genuine friend that I will always have by my side.

2. She's brutally honest.

I'm assuming this is mostly because she's the one who is responsible for giving me life. I think that gives her the right to tell me when I wear an ugly shirt or my hair is messed up.

3. She keeps me sane.

No one knows you like your mom does. She always knows what to say or do to keep me from having a total meltdown.

4. She's always cheering me on.

Moms want nothing but the best for their kids! She's not like any regular "friend" you've ever had. She wants you to succeed, always!

5. She holds me accountable.

If you tell your mom you're going to do something, you're going to do it. If you don't she'll bug you day and night until it gets done.

6. I can always count on her.

No matter what the situation is, I can always count on my mom to get the job done. If I need help, she's the first person I call.

7. She believes in me.

She always expects the best from me, and she always believes I can do it. It's just the kind of positivity I need in my life.

8. She loves me unconditionally.

No matter how many times I screw up, I can always count on my mom to love me anyway!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
