Some say that having one of your best friends as a roommate can be a terrible idea, but I beg to differ. Having one of my best friends as my roommate this year has been one of my biggest blessings for many reasons.
1. They cook you food.
Since we're not randoms to one another, we're not super protective over who bought what in our fridge. Some things are off limits, but there's not much that is. We love to cook family dinners for each other, make each other mac and cheese when we're sad and share popcorn during a movie.
2. They let you borrow their clothes.
Having your best friend living with you is very convenient when you need to borrow something from their closet. Now I don't have to drive across town to their apartment to ask to wear something they own, and can also get their opinions on an outfit without having to Snapchat it to them.
3. They listen to you complain.
Goodbye multiple paragraph text messages. Now that my best friend is simply across the apartment, it's easy for all of us to sit down in the living room to talk about things in our lives that are bothering us, or just to talk about our responsibilities while we ignore them.
4. They work out with you.
Ever have your friend bail on a gym date? Now if your best friend is feeling lazy, you can physically pull them out of bed to come work out with you. Now there's no excuse to having to go to the gym alone.
5. They can comfort you.
When I've had a bad day, I know that my roommates will always be standing at the door ready to hug me. Instead of having to hide away in my room so nobody know that I'm upset, I can now be open and honest will how I feel. They will always be there to tell me that tomorrow will be a better day.
6. They can give you a ride.
7. There's always someone to hangout with.
The days of texting your best friend and telling them to come over and do nothing with you are over. Now, I know that they're only a yell away. Hello endless Netflix marathons and movie nights. Whether it's having someone to talk to between classes or watching a movie after a long day, I know that they're always be home and ready for it.
8. They love and support you.
Living in a household where all those who live there love and support you is one of the most comforting feelings in the world. After being in some not so fun living situations before, I now appreciate living with one of my best friends even more. I know that no matter how bad of a day I have had, my best friend is always going to be home when I get there to hug me and tell me that it's going to be okay.
