8 Reasons Why Country Music Is The Best Music In America

Catchy Lyrics

Within each and every track is the soul of the person who wrote it, and the voice of the man or woman who sings it. Country music is true love in musical form. The old joke goes that all country music is about is losing your wife, your dog, or your job. While the humor is understood, the joke is old and its time to move on. Just like anything else in this world, country music changes with the times. It’s not always the twangy style that it was yesterday. Now days, most of country music is upbeat, happy, and full of soul, with an exception for the occasional throwback or cover of an older song.

True Role Models

The coolest thing about country music is the fact that each and every performer is exactly the person you think they are. These guys and gals are some of the most down to earth and easiest people to talk to, once you get over being star struck of course. They truly love their fans and will interact with them on a regular basis. Garth Brooks recently gave his guitar to a fan at a Minneapolis show who held a sign that said "Chemo this morning. Garth tonight. Enjoying "The Dance." "The Dance" refers to one of Garth's biggest and most loved #1 hits. At the Minneapolis shows, Garth also broke the record for most tickets sold for one city in North America. As of October 13, 2014, he still holds the record at 188,000 tickets. Garth Brooks is also the top selling male country music artist of all time. While he’s been on tour, he stated that he would play each city for as long as he could get a sold out show. He played in Minneapolis, MN for seven nights, with multiple shows each night. If that’s not dedication to the music and to the fans, I don’t know what is.

Humble, Honest, and Thankful

Ryman Auditorium & The Grand Ole Opry House. That’s the Madison Square Garden of country music. The artists that are true to their heart country, lose their breath walking onto that stage, and some even shed tears. The wood circle on the Grand Ole Opry stage is the exact spot that legends like Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels, Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Patty Loveless, Reba McEntire, and so many more have graced the audience with their voices. Not just any artist gets to play on that stage. Going further, not just any person is invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Ever since 1925 when the first member was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, membership decisions are restricted and placed solely in the hands of the management. The management reserved membership based on their sole discretion as a way to make membership coveted in the country music world. Well, it worked. Membership is typically offered via invitation by a member in good standing on behalf of the management, and its usually an entertainer that is somehow connected to the invitee, such as a protégé. When these artists are invited, and later inducted, you can clearly see how humble they are. Check out this YouTube video by the Grand Ole Opry of Garth Brooks presenting Carrie Underwood her Induction Award.

Concerts

Country music concerts are the best events to go to, especially when you are having a rough day. The upbeat music and the ability to turn a bad day into a good one is very much present at a live concert. The environment is electrified with happiness. Each and every person is there to have fun, and hear great music. So, the next time you are having a bad day, buy yourself a ticket to the next country music concert in your area, or simply play the country playlist on Spotify.

BBQ Perfection

There is nothing better in the summer than a good old fashioned BBQ in the backyard with your friends, family, and neighbors. However, a BBQ in the backyard is naked without some good country tunes playing in the background! Grilled, but slightly burned, dogs, brats, and burgers is a pastime and needs to be enjoyed often. Somebody pass the pasta salad!

Family Friendly

A good part about country music is that the majority of it is family friendly entertainment. A great many artists are known for their mature content, and many parents are to blame for allowing their children to listen to it without caution. With country music, you don’t have to worry about any of that. I have completed some research as to whether or not any country music albums have the PAL, or Parental Advisory Label. I came up with nothing searching through iTunes, and various other musical listings.

No Identity Crises

No need to fear, no country music artists are suffering from an identity crisis, like the daughter of a certain country music one hit wonder. Most of these guys and gals know who they are, who they want to be, and who they represent. They don’t need to go off the deep end to figure everything out.

The Cute Country Girls…

I’m a guy, what do you expect? But in all honesty and seriousness, I have had the chance to see Maddie and Tae in concert. I was in the front row! They are the cutest, funniest, and most down to earth girls I have ever had the pleasure to meet. If you don't believe me, check out their "Shut Up and Fish" video below! That southern girl charm tho!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
