8 Reasons Why College Kids Love Going Home

If you go to school away from your home, there are definitely moments when you wish you could be home for many reasons. Having to do everything on your own gets stressful, and sometimes, the only place to escape is at your house. Leaving a place where you have lived your whole life to go to a totally different setting with new people can be hard. Nothing is better than being at home, and here are eight reasons why.

1. You get to see and spend time with your family.

Going from seeing your family everyday to once in a while is a huge change. Being able to come home to hang out, talk, go out to dinner and just be around your family is one of the biggest reasons why coming home is the best. Not only do they miss seeing you, but they love when you come home, so you can tell them all about what's new in your life.

2. Being able to sleep in your own bed.

There isn't a better feeling than waking up in your own bed at home. Going from a huge, queen-size bed to a small, twin-XL bed is a struggle. I think if we could bring our bed from home to school with us, we would most definitely bring it in a heart beat.

3. Escape from reality.

You usually bring all of your books home, so you can do your homework, but it never happens. Going home is the place where you escape from school and everything else that is getting on your last nerve. There isn't a thing in the world you should think about because you are in your safe zone, and no one can ruin that.

4. Home-cooked meals.

Say goodbye to that dinning hall food and hello to homemade food by Mom or Dad! Nothing beats a delicious home-cooked meal at home. And on the plus side, you can take all of the leftovers from home to school with you, so you can bring a little bit of home with you.

5. Getting your laundry done for free.

As college students, we all dread when we have to do laundry, let alone when we have to pay for it. We try to stuff one washer with as many clothes as we can, so we don't have to pay for two loads, but we don't have to do that when we're at home. Not only do you get to do laundry for free, but maybe one of your parents will do it for you.

6. Being able to relax.

Going home is an escape from school and everything that is going on at school. Being able to indulge in food, sleep in for as long as you want, watch TV marathons all day, take a bath and be a couch potato are the best activities for relaxing.

7. Getting stocked up on food for when you have to go back to school.

Every time you go home, Mom or Dad take you to the store, so you can stock up on food because you're a poor college student who survives by the skin of your teeth. Mom and Dad to the rescue!

8. Get together with friends you haven't seen in a while.

It's hard to keep in touch with your friends from back home if you aren't able to see them all the time. That's why whenever you go home, it's always a great time to catch up with your friends from high school and reminisce on all the great memories.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
