8 Quotes to Take With You Into the New Year
WeHeartIt

It's the first week of a new year and that thought alone excites me. I love New Years because it's like a clean slate. Last year's events are all behind me and there's a road of endless possibilities ahead. I'm also a sucker for quotes, because nobody can resist a good quote. So I'm combining my two favorite things. Here are (#) quotes to take with you into page 1 of 365, that is your story for 2017.

1. 12 new chapters, 365 new chances.

2. "Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties." - Helen Keller

3. Stay positive and happy. Work hard and don't give up hope. Be open to criticism and keep learning. Surround yourself with happy, warm and genuine people. - Tena Desae

4. "For last year's words belong to last year's language and next year's words await another voice." - T.S. Eliot

5. "One resolution I have made, and always try to keep, is this– To rise above the little things." - John Burroughs

6. "Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

7. "Do not let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might as well just put that passing time to the best use." -Earl Nightingale

8. "I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something. So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make new mistakes. Make glorious amazing mistakes. Make mistake nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever." - Neil Gailman

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
