When I'm feeling discouraged or need advice during the day, I always turn to quotes to find inspiration and positivity. Sometimes someone else's words are exactly what I need to hear. Like many other people, I even have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to my love of quotes. I currently have over 350 quotes pinned, but I have picked out 8 of my favorites to deem "quotes to live by."

Nothing is more amiable than being humble and valuing others. There is no need to tear people down to make yourself feel better; build yourself and others up. Your self-growth is more important than how you compare to other people.

Yes, this is one of the most popular quotes from the Harry Potter series...Dumbledore is basically a great life coach. This quote shows that no matter how bad it seems, you can persevere if you have the right attitude and positivity. Your own happiness depends YOU.

F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of my favorite authors, so it was so hard for me to only choose one quote by him, but this is easily one of my favorites. It shows that we have control of who we are and what we do; if you want to change something in your life, do it. Take the chance and find your happiness. Be proud of who you are and live your life to the fullest.

What a great quote, am I right?! You should never play dumb or be lazy about learning new things; we have endless opportunities for education. Be thoughtful of others, even when you're cranky and having a bad day. Be generous and give to those in need.

Your dreams can never be too big, but always remember that a dream can only become a reality when you plan and work hard to reach it. Don't let others' doubt discourage you; believe in your dreams, make an action-plan, and achieve!

This is definitely one of my favorite quotes. The people you spend time with influence you and often reflect how you act. Don't surround yourself with toxic people who drain your happiness. Surround yourself with those who will encourage you, support you, challenge you, and help you be the best version of yourself.

Find something you are passionate about and pursue it fearlessly. If you can find a way to make a living off of your passion, do it. You will love your job and look forward to going to work everyday, instead of dreading it.

Don't be a copycat, be as original and creative as you can be. Your uniqueness will set you apart from the crowd and people will notice! It's a good thing to be new and original, so embrace new ideas and don't be scared of failure. At least you took the risk and stayed true to yourself.I hope you are able to take these quotes and apply them to your daily life to find positivity and inspiration!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
