8 Productive Ways To Avoid Studying For Midterms

Along with midterm week come long nights at the library, very few hours of sleep and many cups of coffee. When you look in the mirror, those dark under-eye circles taunt you; make the worth of your education questionable.

College is supposed to be the time of your life, but because of the girl being loud while you're trying to study, it's about to be the time you lose your mind. Reading chapter after chapter, typing up notes, writing out flashcards; none of these things sound like the time of your life.

What if I told you it doesn't have to be this way? Here are eight ways to remain productive and get the most out of your college experience, while also avoiding studying.

1. Teach Brad from Theta Apple Pie why Taco Bell isn’t really Mexican food.

As CRAZY as this sounds, Taco Bell doesn't count as Mexican food. Once you cover a taco with shredded cheese and sour cream you have erased it of its Mexican identity and the people need to know.

2. Convince your writing professor that your essay on The Evolution Of Drake (which you started two hours before it was due) is worth more than a B.

3. Binge-watch "Shameless" on Netflix then use your hatred for Debbie to bond with your peers.

Nothing like an annoying teenager to bring people together. If you're not going to study might as well make friends; everyone knows bonding over a common hatred is the best way to make friends.

4.Take your fifth personal day this week where you sit around and do nothing after a long week of personal days and doing nothing.

Stressing over how stressed you are can be stressful and the best cure is a personal day, again.

5. Eat a salad for lunch then go try to fit into your jeans from high school; realize this was a bad idea then take a nap.

6. Sit with your multicultural friends in a grass field and laugh really hard (like in the college pamphlets).

Do it for the culture.

7. Create a choreography routine for every song on Ed Sheeran's album Divide.

This is legit the best and most productive thing on this list for the following reasons: it forces you to be creative, dancing is a form of exercise, Ed Sheeran might stumble upon one of your videos and give you a million dollars; then you won't need exams or college in general.

8. Make a list of all your homework and tests you have to study for, get really anxious looking at your list, then do something else.

This is usually what gets the ball rolling on to bigger and better things.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
