"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take," is the motto I like to think of when getting ready for a night out. Taking shots is a very difficult and painful activity, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Don't worry, you are not alone in this journey. Here are the 8 phases everyone goes through when taking a shot.
1. Talk About It.
You get to the pregame and mingle a little. After you’ve chatted and taken a few pictures, you realize you’re still 100% sober and time is running out. You must start taking shots ASAP. You yell, “LET’S TAKE SHOTS,” and everyone flocks over to the table where there are assorted handles laying around.
2. Mentally Prepare For It.
You tell yourself you can do this, you got this. You is kind, you is smart, you is important, and you sure as hell can take this shot like a champ. First, you just need to find at least one person to take a shot with you so you can cheers, and of course for support and encouragement.
3. Physically Prepare For It.
You pour your shot and grab your chaser. Do a couple deep-breathing exercises and you are ready to go.
4. Take It.
YOU DID IT, CONGRATULATIONS!!
5. Make Ugly Face.
You make a face that says you want to puke what you just poured down your throat, but don’t worry, you got this because you're a badass.
6. Complain About How Gross It Was.
Did you just drink vodka or rubbing alcohol? You’re not really sure, but it’s already in your system. Just gotta take a couple more and you won’t even be able to taste the difference.
7. Say You Can’t Take Another.
“I just can’t even take another shot, no I really can’t.” You consider making a mixed drink, but realize there is not enough time left to get drunk off of that. As much as you want to say no to taking more shots, you realize that you have to if you want the night to be a good one.
8. Repeat.
You continue to repeat this vicious cycle and once you’re 4 shots in, you don’t even need to talk about it or mentally prepare!!
