The youngest child syndrome isn’t all what it seems to be. People say we are spoiled, attention-demanding, find ways to get away with things and more. However, what people don’t realize is it is all handed to us. We may have gotten picked on, left out, or have been accused of things we didn't do, but despite some of the downsides that comes with being the youngest sibling, there are upsides that come along with it.
1. You get away with almost everything
2. You will always be the baby of the family
No matter what, you will always feel special for being the youngest.
3. You will always feel young
Each time one of your older siblings have a birthday, they will seem so old to you and you will think to yourself, “Wow, I still have a while before I catch up to them.” You feel like time is on your side. No matter how old you actually get, you will always feel young compared to them.
4. The gift of hand-me-downs
A lot of younger siblings probably hate hand-me-downs, but when I was younger I thought it was great. I didn’t always get to go shopping for new clothes when I wanted to, so it was like a free shopping spree for me. Even as you get older you can still borrow their clothes.
5. You’re always being protected
Being the “baby” of the family your siblings and parents are always taking extra care of you by watching over you.
6. We learn from our older sibling’s mistakes
Typically our older siblings go through most life experiences before we do, therefore we can take notes and learn from what they do wrong which makes life easier for us.
7. You develop thick skin
You didn’t really have a choice but to develop thick skin from all those times being taken advantage of or pushed around for being the youngest.
8. You’re the favorite.
Okay, not really, because there aren’t supposed to be favorites. However, it may feel as though you are for all of the “special” treatment you get for being the youngest.
