8 Perks of Being the Youngest of Two Daughters

Growing up, your sister seemed like a bossy know-it-all and you two bickered to no ends. You hated being the youngest because you couldn’t do the cool things your older sister did. But as time went on, you two got closer and you realized all the perks that come with being the younger sister.

1. She broke in your parents.

Your older sister was the guinea pig child. Your parents placed so many restrictions on her and tried to make sure that she was the perfect daughter. She fought with your parents and challenged them so much that when it came to you, your parents just gave up and let you do whatever you wanted - they cut you some slack. So thank you, older sister, for being the experiment so I may experience freedom.

2. She pays for your food.

Being the younger one means that you always have someone to provide for you. Whenever you two went out to eat, you never needed to bring your wallet because you knew that you were covered. So thank you, older sister, for sacrificing your cash to save my stash.

3. You have an automatic chauffeur.

Your older sister got her license first. This means you get to use her for rides. Need someone to take you to the mall? You got it. Need someone to take you to your friend’s house? It’s a given. The shotgun seat was your second home. Her car is also your car. So thank you, older sister, for the free rides.

4. Your closet doubles in size.

Her fashion always inspired you to dress nicer. Your older sister had the coolest clothes and you can’t help but sneak into her closet and steal that cute blouse so you can wear it to school. You wore her clothes more than your own clothes. So thank you, older sister, for forgiving me when I stained your favorite skirt.

5. She’s a second mom.

When your mom wasn’t home yet or was still at work, your older sister was there to do the laundry and make your favorite after-school snack. She was always there to braid your hair and tell you to do your homework. You didn’t even have to lift a finger and she was always there to take care of you. So thank you, older sister, for being a pro at making Bagel Bites.

6. She always has your back.

When you two were younger, there was no doubt that you two would get in trouble by your parents. When your parents asked if you two broke your mom’s favorite china, your older sister would make up an amazing story to save both of your sorry butts. So thank you, older sister, for helping me escape a punishment.

7. Her friends are your friends.

All your older sister’s friends adored you and your chubby little cheeks. They always wanted to play with you and you loved the attention they gave you. You felt so cool that you knew older kids. As you two grew up, they became your real friends and you have no problem hanging out with your older sister’s friends without her. So thank you, older sister, for making me popular.

8. You can go to her for fashion advice.

The best person to shop with is your older sister because she knows your style more than anyone else. Your friends will tell you that anything looks good on you, but your older sister will take one look at that shirt and tell you to not even bother trying it on because she knows you that well. So thank you, older sister, for making me look cute.

It may seem as if being the youngest sister is not the greatest task, but in the end, it's amazing to have an older sister watching out for you no matter what. From easily escaping punishments to getting more clothes, being the youngest is a blast. So keep on loving yourself and who you are, younger sister!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
