The food on Long Island is like no other place. Hands down, whatever anyone else says. With the warmer weather approaching more and more people are adventuring beyond their horizons with new, different, unique, unbelievable food options. Being born and raised in Suffolk County, Long Island, you become aware of some of the spectacular food on the island, and I'm here to share some of my favorites with you all:

1. Maureen's Kitchen (Smith town, New York)

Maureen's Kitchen is well known for their hour-long line waits; however, the wait is worth it because it's the most amazing breakfast food I've had. They have anything you could imagine eating. From eggs, omelettes, egg sandwiches, pancakes and french toast. What more can a human being want? Also, the choices just go on and on. If you're a breakfast lover and in Long Island, I would recommend Maureen's Kitchen.

2. Midori Sushi & Steakhouse (Mt. Sinai, New York)

Midori Sushi & Steakhouse is for all of those sushi lovers, like myself. Sushi is an acquired taste, and I am sure not everyone will love it; however, you haven't had fresh sushi until you've been here. There is an endless variety of rolls and sushi options. Also, they have unique rolls that you can only get at Midori.

3. Tiger Lily (Port Jefferson, New York)

Tiger Lily is a cute, little cafe in Port Jefferson where they have vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare, and a juice bar where local artists perform their talents. The environment brings me joy and is extremely peaceful.

4. Se-port Deli (East Setauket, New York)

Se-port is one of those delis that are famous for their great sandwiches to choose from. All I am going to say is if you haven't been here, then it's a must visit. You will not be disappointed.

5. Don Quijote (Miller Place, New York)

In my opinion, Don Quijote is a great environment for family, friends, a girls night out, basically any occasion. The setting is amazing and the staff is kind and understanding. The Mexican food is so mouthwatering, and they have great margaritas like strawberry, mango, lime, pomegranate and more.

6. Dublin Deck (Patchogue, New York)

Dublin Deck is a beautiful, peaceful tiki bar and grill located right on the water. Live bands play on various nights which create a social, fun vibe that will guarantee a good time for everyone.

7.The Meetball Place (Patchogue, New York)

Growing up in an Italian household, my famiglia always had the best meatballs and gravy. The Meetball Place was almost identical to my famiglia's cooking and maybe even a little better (to be completely honest). They have a variety of meatballs and sauce flavors. If you're an Italian food lover, this place is definitely a must for you.

8. Beers, Burgers, and Desserts (Rocky Point, New York)

BBD is like no other burger place on Long Island and was also featured in the news for one of the top burger places to eat in Suffolk County. Their burgers are delicious! They have a variety of different types of burgers, wings and fries that you can order. If you're a burger lover, this is a place for you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
