If you love makeup as much as I do, then you know what it's like to sit hours upon hours watching the latest makeup tutorials from your favorite gurus. We impatiently wait for the latest creation, as we watch previous videos to keep us occupied. We follow them on all our socials, look them up on Pinterest, buy their latest palettes, but most of all, we sit in front of the mirror motivated to create. Over the years, I think I've watched hundreds of videos, liked thousands of pictures, and spent a dollar too much on makeup because it became more than just my passion, but my art. Here's a list of the "makeup gurus" that have taught me more than the tips and tricks; they've taught me that the real beauty is on the inside.
1. Jaclyn Hill
Queen of the Highlight, Jaclyn Hill has made her way to the top of the makeup world, with her fun and approachable videos. If any of you love a good tutorial, Jaclyn Hill is your girl. Her fun and positive energy, along side her diverse and high quality videos, she has stolen the hearts of millions around the world. With over 3 million YouTube subscribers- Hill never seizes to amaze her viewers with the looks and products she creates. Last year, she partnered with Becca Cosmetics to create the ultimate highlight "Champaign Pop" and this year has gone above and beyond with her "Champaign Pop" face palettes. The number one quality you see in her products, is the love and devotion to produce the best for her fans. Follow her on Twitter and Instagram (@jaclynhill) and subscribe to her YouTube channel!
2. Teni Panosian
Teni Panosian is the perfect definition of "less is more." With her simple and flawless looks- I'm always inspired to embrace my natural beauty with a hint of glam after watching her videos. Teni has this really sweet and approachable spirit that makes her relatable to girls like you and me. Her adventurous and outgoing personality is seen in her Instagram posts- I have nothing but love for her! Follow Teni on Instagram and Twitter(@tenipanosian) and subscribe to her YouTube channel!
3. Carli Bybel
My girl Carli stole my heart about three years ago as a beginner in the makeup world. Honestly, what caught my attention about Carli (aside from her flawless looks) was her encouraging spirit. She always started her videos with a quote, and the one that inspired me was, "aspire to inspire." About a year ago, Carli created a eyeshadow and highlight palette with BH Cosmetics, and the best part of it was the price. She wanted a high quality palette at an affordable price. I can personally say, I love everything about the palette and use it everyday. Follow her on Instragram and Twitter (@carlibybel), visit her website (thebeautybybel.com), and subscribe to her YouTube channel!
4. Michelle Phan
If you love makeup, then you must have heard of Michelle Phan. She started off with her MacBook camera on an airplane and is now one of the most popular YouTube artist, with over 8 million subscribers. What I love about Michelle Phan is the way she uses the makeup to the upmost potential. With a small hint of concealer, and a little shaping of the brows, she teaches you that a little goes a long way. Check out her book "Make Up," to learn more about all things beauty, style, and success (my go to when I need advice). Follow her on Instrgram and Twitter (@michellephan), check out her website (michellephan.com) and subscribe to her YouTube channel!
5. Camila Bravo
She's the newest face in the makeup world, but I love her. One of the things that caught my attention was her "DIY Bangs Tutorial." I went crazy after watching it and literally almost gave myself bangs (but I'm not that committed, maybe one day) and I immediately went looking for her channel and fell in love with all her looks. Being from Puerto Rico, it's so great seeing a fellow Latina on the scene (Latina Pride!!!). Follow her on Instragram (@kamilabravo) and subscribe to her YouTube channel!
6. Christen Dominique
I first heard of Christen when I subscribed for my Ipsy glam bag and immediately connected with her channel. I'll be very honest, she reminds of a Disney Princess, with the edgy Selena Gomez vibe. She's just extremely relatable and inspires in more ways than one. Not only is she this super successful YouTube makeup artist, but she's also a mom and a wife. So to any mom/wife out there- Christen is your go to girl for inspo! Follow her on Instragram (christendominique) and Twitter (@christendtweets) and subscribe to her YouTube channel!
7. Promise Phan
I remember seeing her makeup picture slash videos all over the internet, but what caught my attention was all her Disney Princess (and Evil Queens) looks! I mean, if I had one word to describe Promise it's talent. She can transform herself into anything and anyone. If you're into Character makeup, I can promise you, Promise will not disappoint. (See what I did there?) Follow her on Instagram (@promisetamang) and Twitter (@TamangPhan) and subscribe to her YouTube channel (@dope2111)!
8. Huda Kattan
I have nothing but good things to say about Huda Kattan- I saw her tutorials and name floating around the internet (and when I say internet, I mean the makeup world). Huda is a woman of many talents, if it's lashes, lips, or DIY tutorials- I can never get enough. What I love the most about Huda, is her simple, short, and honest tutorials. If you're new to all things makeup, go check out her channel. She'll get you going in the right direction.
