Even if you've never stepped foot in one in your life or even if you hardly go shopping, you've heard of Urban Outfitters as every year they seem to come out with yet again another tasteless, insensitive, overly expensive and offensive piece of clothing. From their Kent State shooting sweatshirt to the tank top reading "Eat Less" the company has built quite the problematic reputation. I have never bought anything there myself, but I'd be lying if I said an item on their website didn't catch my eye. I don't really want to support them, but am I really so shallow enough to buy something from them? Perhaps not. I explored the site and found other items similar (and in some instances cheaper) than the controversial competition. Here are only a few!

1. BDG Boyfriend Destroyed Denim Trucker Jacket

90s grunge is back in the fashion industry at full force, and while I'm personally not a wearer of denim jackets myself, there must be many people who are. if you're one of those people, check out this high quality and cheaper trucker jacket at Pacsun.

2. Nerita Medallion Tapestry

Tapestries seem to be a popular interior design choice my dorm and apartment dwellers alike, but Urban Outfitters isn't the only place that sells these designs. A number of Society6 shops, such as Mantra Mandala, carries similar ones too!

3. Firefly Clips String Lights

Nothing says aesthetic like a bunch of hanging Polaroids. Why not clip them on some cute lights? So go out and buy some, not from here, but Crate and Barrel.

4. Photive Sphere Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

These pretty denim covered pastel bluetooth speakers make a convenient addition to a bedroom and lounge! Luckily, Walmart sells the same product.

5. Birkenstock Arizona Mono Slide

Ah, Birkenstocks... the go-to music festival sandals, the colege student's campus treading shoe of choice, and of course the show we all think Jesus and his disciples wore. If you do want a the brand name shoe, Amazon sells these bad boys for around the same price, but GSLove also sells a similar-looking pair for less than $20!

6. Out From Under Rain Or Shine Track Pant

You know what other article of clothing is popular? Joggers. And thank goodness for that. I can look stylish yet feel comfortable, and the best place to find a pair like the ones above is at Forever 21. Thank you, socially acceptable sweatpants.

7. Kimchi Blue Cold-Shoulder Flutter Sleeve Dress

As the hot season rolls around, so do those light, fun summer dresses. Urban Outfitters, but you know who else has an array of beautiful sundresses for everyone of all body types? Target does, and at an extremely affordable price too.

8. Triple Honeycomb Wooden Shelf

I really like these geometrically shaped shelves! Some of them may serve more as fashion over function, but this hexagona seem to hold a decent amount of objects! Urban Outfitters isn't the only place that sells these, as DarkMarqueDesigns on Etsy sells shelves like these as well as other geometric shelves! You'll also be supporting small business, which is a win win.

I hope I was some help in finding ways to look past the pricey and problematic Outfitters for some other options! Happy shopping!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
