1) Take study breaks with some of your favorite television shows and books
There’s nothing that motivates me to study more than thinking about how I’ll get to read a chapter of my current book, or an episode of a classic television show.

2) Have a movie night
For this one, it’s important to plan it around the tests that you do have. It’s probably not the best idea to have a late night the night before an 8:30 am exam, but if there’s a break in your test schedule definitely give this a try!

3) Have a spa night with your friends
What could be better than spending a little time relaxing when you’re stressed out? I suggest facemasks, manicures, awesome smelling lotion and a playlist of classic throwback songs.

4) Make a home cooked meal
Sometimes the best way to distract yourself from stress is to completely throw yourself into a new project. A spaghetti night is the perfect solution. Not only do you get to focus on what ingredients you need and the act of preparing the meal, you and possibly a few lucky friends also get a delicious dinner!

5) Make a study playlist
One of my favorite activities to do when I’m studying as a break is making a study playlist. The act of creating the playlist feels very productive, even though you aren’t actually doing any work. It could also inspire you to study if you only allow yourself to listen to it when studying.

6) Talk to your friends from home
Chances are, your midterm week is not the same as your friends at schools around the country. Listening to what is going on in their lives is an awesome way to not focus on your own stressors. Venting about midterms to people not experiencing the same stress that you are is nice as well.

7) Partake in a little retail therapy
In college everyone is trying to save money, but midterms are the perfect excuse to treat yourself to something new. Everyone does their best academically when they feel their best mentally. The excitement of a new pair of shoes, or a video game that you’ve wanted can cause a nice boost in morale.

8) Plan an exciting activity to do after the tests are over
The all time best way to temporarily forget about the stress of midterms is to think about how great life will be after they’re all over. Having a specific activity to look forward to like a movie, a trip, or a play can distract your from how stressed you are and inspire you to do your best.
