If you are from Agawam, you know how small of a town it is. There are many staples in that you wouldn't know unless you grew up there. Here are a list of some familiar sayings and questions you get when you tell people you are from Agawam, MA.
1. “Agawam,..? Where is that?”
Agawam is in Massachusetts, right on the border of Connecticut. Have you ever been to Six Flags New England? Yeah, then you have been to Agawam.
2. “Do you go to Six Flags all the time?”
No, I do not actually I never go to Six Flags. I have been to Six Flags twice and let me tell you something, I was not impressed. It's like a less festive version of the Big E.
3. “What is the ‘Big E’?”
What?! The Big E is the place to be starting in September and going all the way through October. Stopping at each state building, trying all the different foods, so much better than Six Flags, and you will spend WAY less money.
4. "Look *insert name here* is running, beep and say hi!”
In such a small town there's a 90% chance that if you see someone walking, running or riding their bike on the street is one of your friends. It is the worst when you are the person running and have 0 idea who the 5 people that beeped at you were.
5. “Is the Thanksgiving Game Home this year?”
As we await the new athletic fields in high hopes, there is always someone that forgets if the game was home or away last year. The big rivalry between Westside and Agawam has only grown since the last few years have been tight games. Now we will have to see who will have the better stadium
6. “Wanna go to JJ.. I mean The Ice-Cream Shop?”
We have all made this mistake at least once, everyone loves the Ice cream Shop but its prior name of JJ’s seems to live on.
7. “Should we get Nicky’s or The Pizza Guy?”
Ahh, a difficult choice. I have always been a Nicky’s girl because first of all, it's located at the end of my street. Both of these pizza establishments are DELICIOUS and I would recommend them to anyone visiting.
8. “You have a school song?”
I have encountered so many people that find it confusing we have a school song. “Joyous and Ever Loyal” is a song I will always remember, singing it on pep rally, before games, and on the bus ride home after winning the championship trophy. There is nothing that brings AHS together more than the school song.
