A new school year is upon us. We all make the same resolution that ‘this year will be better than last’, and while we all have good intentions, sometimes to temptations of college get the better of us. So, to help all of my fellow students out I have complied a list of apps every college kid needs to help you survive this semester.
1. Spotify
If you don’t have Spotify by now, then what are you doing? Spotify Premium has changed my life forever. I can make multiple playlists for different occasions from calming study sessions in the library to jamming out in my car. P.S. if your sign up for Spotify Premium as student you can get a half off monthly discount.
2. Pokemon Go
That’s right students, we have new uncharted campus territory to hunt on. Pokemon Go is the perfect game to play to take your mind off school while walking between classes. If anyone spots a Pikachu, HMU.
3. Duolingo
For all you students who got stuck taking a language class this semester, this app is perfect for you. Duolingo is a super fun and easy app that helps you learn new languages. Currently, I am attempting to learn French.
4. Quizlet
Quizlet is my BFF. I can’t begin to tell you how many test I have aced because of this app. With Quizlet you can make your own flash cards and study them on the go. It also generates fun games with your cards to help you better learn your information.
5. MyFitnessPal
They don’t call it the ‘Freshman 15’ for nothing. During college your normal eating habits will most likely get thrown out the window. Instead of falling into the endless abyss of junk food, use MyFitnessPal to track your calories and stay healthy this year.
6. Studyguide
This app is perfect for people who want to keep an agenda for the school year, but always forget to write in it (me). Through this app you can log in your homeworks, projects, and test schedules on your phone. It will keep you on track for what assignments are coming up and what you need to study for or start first.
7. Elevate
I recently discovered this app and have fallen in love with it. It a simply brain training app that only takes a few minutes a day. Elevate consist of a series of games that work your brain and help you with skills such as listening, speaking, math, reading, and writing. It’s a perfect app to play while waiting for class to begin.
8. Rate My Professor
Okay this one is not an app, but is an extremely useful website. Before your start your classes look up your professors and see what past students have to say about them. It is a tremendously useful way to see what is ahead for you this semester. Good luck to you if your professor is in the red zone.
