8 Emotions You Go Through When Leaving Your Best Friend For College

This was way harder than we thought it would be.

8 Emotions You Go Through When Leaving Your Best Friend For College

The second I was accepted to an out of state college I immediately thought about how I was going to tell my best friend. We hadn't been apart for more than we week since pre-k and now we were going to be hours from each other. From that day on it has been an emotional rollercoaster full of these eight things.

1. Excitement

Of course you have to be excited for your best friend following their dreams...Even if it is to go somewhere 500 miles away.

2. Denial

Two weeks before the move you both cried, laughed, and reminised on the floor of a room filled with boxes packed full of 18 years of memories and you both didn't think you could actually leave each other.

3. Sadness

The morning you watched your best friend waving in your rear view mirror, you lost it. We all did.

4. Happiness

Once the sadness went away and you saw how much fun your bestie was having in her new home you were instantly happy for her because of the way she gloated on your first FaceTime call.

5. Jealousy

Nobody wants to admit it but yes, we're all a little jealous of the fun parties, late night sonic runs, and crazy memories your best friend is making without you.

6. Sadness. Again.

Because sometimes you had a bad day and nobody gets you like she does and you just need a hug. Or 12.

7. Incomplete

We truly are sorry for the constant tweets, Facebook posts, and Instagram photos that only talk about how much we miss each other.

8. Acceptance

Although there are days all you want is a tub of ice cream and chick clicks with your girl, you're so extremely proud of her and you know nobody could possibly replace her even if they tried.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
