8 Country Songs for Every Mood
Saving Country Music

Country music allows me to experience many different emotions. Whether I wake up on the wrong side of the bed or I just need something to listen to on my drive home, country artists have written and performed a song for each mood. So if you're looking for song for each moment, I've got them right here for you. Many of these songs have gotten me through tough times, good times, and everything in between.

1. For when you're feeling down and just need to take a drive:

Highway Don't Care by Tim McGraw ft. Taylor Swift

"Bet your window's rolled down and your hair's pulled back,
And I bet you got no idea you're going way too fast."

If you're a girl, and have never listened to this song with your "windows rolled down and your hair pulled back," next time you're feeling blue, DO IT. Sometimes it feels good to feel sad.. and you know what I mean.

2. For when you're missing someone:

You Should Be Here by Cole Swindell

"You should be here,
standing with your arm around me here.
Cutting up, cracking a cold beer, saying cheers,
hey y'all it's sure been a good year."

What I like about this song, is everyone can interpret it however they want to. My
mom says it reminds her of her mom who passed away almost 12 years ago; I think about my boyfriend in the Marines that I miss every single day he's gone; but for Cole, it is about his late father. Because when you're missing someone you love, all you want is for them to be right by your side.

3. For when you're deeply in love:

From the Ground Up by Dan + Shay

"This life will go by
in the blink of an eye,
but I wouldn't want to spend it
without you by my side."

I don't even think I need to explain this one. The first time I heard this song, I instantly started tearing up and sent it to my boyfriend. I mean when you're just so in love with someone and you hear the words you feel put into a song.. who wouldn't get emotional?

4. For when you're pissed off:

Kerosene by Miranda Lambert

"Forget your high society
I'm soakin' it in Kerosene
Light 'em up and watch them burn
Teach them what they need to learn, HA!"

Even if you didn't get cheated on, you just want revenge, or maybe just the chance light something on fire, this song gives you everything you need at that moment. The tempo just pumps you up and fills that need to actually do something.

5. For when you're drinking with friends:

All Summer Long by Kid Rock

"And we were trying different things
We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song"

I can almost guarantee that even if some of your friends don't listen to country music 7 out of 10 will know this song and sing along. It's almost magical. And the best part, is they'll probably crack open another beer just for the occasion.

6. For when you just want to "shake it":

Country Girl (Shake It For Me) by Luke Bryan

"Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees,
shake it for the catfish swimmin' down deep in the creek."

This is probably the country girl anthem. Of course lost of dancing will be involved!

7. For when you're feeling discouraged:

Follow Your Arrow by Kasey Musgraves

"You're damned if you do
and you're damned if you don't
So you might as well just do whatever you want."

You can never please everyone. You do one thing, you're criticized, you do the opposite.. you're still going to get criticized. Why waste you're time trying to make everyone happy when the only person's happiness that truly matters most is yourself? (Side note: Kasey Musgraves is such a fun soul. Her music is so honest and free spirited. I love it.)

8. For when you realize the reason why things didn't work out:

Good in Goodbye by Carrie Underwood

"As bad as it was,
as bad as it hurt
I thank God I didn’t get
what I thought that I deserved."

I remember when I broke up with my high school boyfriend, I thought the world was over and I was never going to find love again. But after walking away and realizing how toxic that relationship was for me and then finding someone who truly cares aout me, it all made sense. Sometimes saying goodbye is the best thing you can do, even though it hurts like hell initially. Remember what Garth Brooks once said: "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."

Needless to say, I could go on and on with every single song that makes me feel different ways, but I don't think this article would ever end.

Country music is just so real and has lyrics that tell a story every time.

So thank you country music artists for feeding my soul.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
