If you have ever played a sport or participated in an activity, then you had to have been coached by someone who is wiser in that field. I for one played volleyball for nine years and I loved every minute of it.

I loved the team mentality and I loved the thought of being apart of something bigger than just myself. My sophomore year of high school, I ended up deciding that my volleyball career would need to come to an end so I could do more with my summers instead of training.

After taking a few months off, I was approached about becoming an assistant coach for a 13s recreational team. After doing that for a few months, I was offered a position as a paid assistant coach for a club team and instantly accepted.

During my time as a coach, I had to motivate the girls I coached. I had to teach them not to be afraid. I had to teach them to become better players. Most of all I had to make them better people.

At the beginning of each season, I would tell them I only cared about three things, that they had fun, became better players, and most of all that they were better people by the end. I wanted them not to just grow in the sport but in there personal character.

After doing some research, I have determined that these 10 quotes are some of the best coaching quotes of all time. They don't just focus on the sport, but the character of the player.

“Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.”– John Wooden, Basketball

“The interesting thing about coaching is that you have to trouble the comfortable, and comfort the troubled” – Ric Charlesworth, Hockey

“Let me tell you what winning means…. you’re willing to go longer, work harder, give more than anyone else.” – Vince Lombardi, American Football

“First master the fundamentals” – Larry Bird, Basketball

“Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.” – Vince Lombardi, American Football

“Nothing will work unless you do” – John Wooden, Basketball

“The definition of courage is going from defeat to defeat with enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” – Charles Darwin

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
