The 3rd presidential debate was one of the most policy based debates thus far in the race since the democratic primaries ended in July. As a viewer it can be hard to tell fact from fiction, especially with the two candidates we have running. While I don't have enough time or patience to cover all of the lies from the debate, I would like to present the eight biggest lies from the two presidential candidates.

1.) "I believe if my opponent should win this race, which I truly don't think will happen, we will have a second amendment which will be a very, very small replica of what it is right now." - Donald Trump

This has been a staple of Trumps rhetoric throughout his entire campaign. Hillary Clinton has stated several times that she is a supporter of the 2nd amendment right to bear arms but supports common sense gun laws such as expanded background checks. She states on her website:"I believe weapons of war have no place on our streets. We may have our disagreements on gun safety regulations, but we should all be able to agree on a few things. If the FBI is watching you for suspected terrorist links, you shouldn’t be able to just go buy a gun with no questions asked. You shouldn’t be able to exploit loopholes and evade criminal background checks by buying online or at a gun show. And yes, if you’re too dangerous to get on a plane, you are too dangerous to buy a gun in America."

2.) "Because based on what she's saying and based on where she's going and where she's been, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb on the ninth month on the final day. And that's not acceptable." - Donald Trump

The type of procedure he is talking about is called a "Partial-birth Abortion" and is an extremely evasive procedure. These types of procedures are extremely rare, making up about .2% of the millions of abortions performed in the United States. The claim that this can be done the day before the delivery is false. Taking a baby out of the whom at that point is called a C section, not an abortion. many of these partial birth abortions are done because the fetus develops substantial abnormalities or provides a health risk to the mother. NPR has released an article providing more information on partial birth abortions.

3.) "Well, first of all, she wants to give amnesty, which is a disaster and very unfair to all the people that are waiting on line for many many years." - Donald Trump

Hillary Clinton has not proposed giving amnesty to immigrants that are here illegally. She has proposed giving them renewable work permits as laid out in her immigration proposal on her website. Although the notoriously conservative president Ronald Reagan's 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act granted citizenship to many illegal immigrants that met certain criteria.

4.) "We need the wall the border patrol, ICE, they all want the wall."

The National Border Patrol Council and the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council both openly endorse Trump but neither union agrees with his plan to build a wall stretching the entire length of the US and Mexico border. Jon Anfinsen, Border Patrol union steward in Del Rio, Texas, told NPR: “I know the union has expressed to him that there are places where it [a border wall] absolutely is necessary. But there are other places where it's just not feasible. A lot of the area, it's hilly or the terrain just would not support it. We have a lot of private land."

5.) "Officers would be going school to school, home to home, business to business" - Hillary Clinton

In an attempt to get an emotional plea from the audience, Hillary painted a picture of ICE officers coming and taking kids from schools. In 2011 ICE released a letter stating the sensitive locations where they would not enter. Among these listed were schools, churches and hospitals. In order to do this, Trump would have to change the rules of ICE. While I wouldn't put it past him, it is not feasible under the current restrictions.

6.) "The NAFTA deal signed by her husband is one of the worst deals ever made of any kind of signed by anybody. - Donald Trump

Despite the blatant grammatical errors in this quote, it is also completely false. This has been a key talking point in Trump's campaign, often times putting the blame for the failure of NAFTA on Hillary Clinton's husband, Bill Clinton. NAFTA was actually signed by H.W. Bush and was then ratified by both chambers of congress. Bill Clinton signed the ratification. So the blame really lies with Bush and congress.

7.) "Well, if you went on to read the rest of the sentence, I was talking about energy." - Hillary Clinton

Hillary stated in a paid speech to a Brazilian bank: “My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, sometime in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere.” It is hard to tell from this statement whether or not she really was talking about energy. Many fact checkers disagree about the meaning of this but they all agree that she was talking about more than just energy.

8.) "Look, our country is stagnant. We've lost our jobs" - Donald Trump

There is now 10.7 million more people working now than there was when Obama took office. and 15 million jobs have have been added since the worst of the recession. Jobs per year was actually strongest under Bill Clinton, at about 2.6 million.

While this list is in no way comprehensive, it gives you an idea of how truthful both candidates can really be during these debates. We must take all of the comments stated with a grain of salt. and always remember to fact check. If you would like to see the entire fact checked transcript then you can check out the transcript released by the NPR journalists with pertinent anecdotes.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
