For all this talk about being the first to jump on a bandwagon, there's very little said about when one is too late to get in tune. And in an age where every album in the world is available for downloading, chances are someone will discover a great band only to find out they broke up years ago.
Here are eight albums that I'm kicking myself for not picking up when they were brand new.
"musicforthemorningafter" by Pete Yorn
Pete Yorn's classic debut recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, but its awesome selection of fantastic songs like "On Your Side," "Strange Condition" and "For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is)" hold up today, even when it comes to modern rock songs. Give it a listen and slip into the groove.
"Neve" by Neve
I love '90s music. I've consumed practically every '90s hit there is, but I'm still upset I missed this band's killer debut that is now one of the most repeated albums on my iPod. "It's Over Now," "Motor" and "Same Old Story" are just three of the incredible songs on this show-stopping album.
"Sooner or Later" by BBMak
A British boy band that never took off, BBMak delivered great pop songs like "Back Here," "Unpredictable" and "Next Time" while looking good and winning fangirls' hearts everywhere. If there's any boy band that needs a comeback, it's these guys.
"Everlife" by Everlife
A Disney-endorsed girl group may not scream great music, but these three sisters created epic rock anthems like "Go Figure," "Find Yourself In You" and "I Could Get Used To This" and for that, they earn great replay points. Not to mention points for making a great album.
"Some Mad Hope" by Matt Nathanson
If cool, easy-going rock is your thing, Matt Nathanson's 2007 album, featuring spectacular tunes like "Come On Get Higher," "Car Crash" and "Heartbreak World," is right up your alley.
"Gorillaz" by Gorillaz
A cartoon band — yes, really — with a killer sense of style created some awesome hits like "Clint Eastwood," "Re-Hash" and "5/4" and won over countless fans. Now that they're launching a comeback, time for everyone to catch up.
"Injury Loves Melody" by Diffuser
The debut from hardcore rockers Diffuser delivered on awesome tunes like "Tidal," "Karma" and "The Way That I Feel" that make you feel they've been doing it their whole lives.
"Camino Palmero" by The Calling
Everyone knows this band's one hit wonder "Wherever You Will Go," but the rest of the awesome album, including "Unstoppable" and "Could It Be Any Harder," deserves attention for its stellar rock out worthy songs.
